when will i stop feeling hungry and when will i start feeling full?
Hi All,
Three weeks and 1 day out. I am on pureed for another 8 days. I am ALWAYS hungry. Typical day is as follows:
B: 1/3 cup of plain greek yogurt with 2 tbsp blueberry baby food
S: Premier Protein Shake
L: 1/3 cup fat free cottage cheese, 2 tbsp mashed veggies
S: Unsweetened Applesauce with 1/3 scoop of unflavoured protein powder
D: 1/3 cups of pureed lentils, chickpeas and kidney beans that were stewed in spices and chicken stock, 2 tbsp of mashed veggies
S: Premeir Protein Shake
I have a lot of snacks because i am ALWAYS hungry. I should also mention that i am drinking about 2.5 to 3 litres of water a day.... and i have 1 decaf coffee in the mornings... when will this "full after a few bites" sensation occur and when will i STOP feeling hungry ALL the time?
Thanks!!
When you are full, it feels different from what you would feel pre-op. Right now, though, you are eating enough to sustain you. Maybe it's head hunger? I know head hunger really messes with a lot of people.
Also, protein protein protein. Protein and fats make you feel full longer. I see you are getting a lot of protein shakes and foods that slide through your pouch pretty well. If you are a fan of tuna and chicken salad, that could help. It helped me out a lot. I would take canned tuna or chicken, add a boiled egg, some light mayo, and a little pickle juice and blend it until smooth. It doesn't look great, but just a little of that will get you a long way in a day. I was feeling so full after about 1/4 cup of it that I had to skip my next snack.
Hope this helps!

Ok. That will make it a little more difficult for you, but there are ways around it. Tofu...it's soft and can be blended with just about anything. Is that an option for you? Maybe tofurkey? You could probably find a million recipes online of things that you could blend.
Also, what about cheeses? Do you eat those? If so, you might try ricotta bake (seriously saved my life). You can also do thinned down refried beans with cheese or not. They are a good little pick me up. I used the fat free generic that you can get from any grocery store.

Eggface is awesome. I forgot I wanted to try this ricotta bake . Going to make it this weekend. Thanks for the reminder Kandice!

My son made it for me yesterday- he did a double batch and my son and husband ate it for dinner too (with some crusty bread). We ALL loved it!

You can try some TVP products. I understand that Morning Star has some good veggie burgers. I have tried the Veggie Patch faux chicken nuggets and they were good.

Are you able to puree quinoa? It's not something I eat, so I'm unsure the texture (guessing a bit like rice), but I know it's a good source of protein for vegetarians. Maybe it might help?
Best of luck to you. I was a vegetarian for almost 20 years. I started eating some chicken and fish in the past 5 years - although I am super picky about it.
A lot of people feel hungry and are concerned. I remember posting here a few weeks after surgery that I was concerned about my hunger. Basically from what I can remember, you are still eating soft really easy to digest foods. When you move into denser protein like chicken turkey etc you will feel the difference. You will be surprised at how fast you get full. Don't ru**** you don't want an angry pouch but it will happen. Good luck
