Good morning Daisy and menu masters.  I love your before and after pictures.  You are beautiful, inside and out.  I am on day 3 of working from home.  A friend with a car that is better in snow and ice than mine picked me up and we went to dinner at a Chinese restaurant near home.  Hot and sour soup. Yum! It was heaven to get out of the house for something besides snow shoveling.

We will still be iced in this weekend, so I will be staying close to home.  Probably walking over to a friend's house to hang out and watch movies.

QOTD: if someone asks me how much weight I've lost, I generally tell them. I am an over sharer in terms of health related stuff.  It feels more clinical to me then personal, so it doesn't bother me at all. It must be from working in healthcare for the past 25 years.  This means that I am equally comfortable asking questions, which I realize might make some people feel uncomfortable. I'm not nosey, just really interested and fascinated.  I might need to rethink my approach after reading the responses to this QOTD, though.

Here is my before and after.  The before is at Christmas a couple of years before surgery.  The after is from last month  I was dressed for a party.

Time Since Surgery: 2 years

B:  Egg Beaters, mozzarella and bacon omelette

S:  Egg muffin

L: 3 bean chili

S: Zenner chicken sausage link

D:  3oz rib eye, cauliflower and brussels sprouts

S:  Protein hot chocolate

Totals:  Calories 879, carbs 54, Protein 80

Have a great day!

You are totally rocking that dress!

At two years out, do you ever get hungry or does the pouch still work to make you feel like you've had enough?  Sorry if that's too personal; just ignore the question if it is.

I don't get the same kind of true hunger like I did before surgery.  It is more of an vague empty feeling, or dizziness if I haven't eaten for a long time.  Head hunger, on the other hand, is something I have to guard against all of the time.  I have found that if I acknowledge it for what it is, it goes away.  For example, when I want to eat, but it is not time, I say to myself, "you are not hungry.  This is head hunger."  And bam, all gone.  For awhile, at least.

In terms of feeling full, or like I have had enough, I do not like the feeling of feeling over full, so I try to avoid that.  I do it by eating a set amount of food (e.g., 3-4 oz of protein, a 1/4 cup veg) and then I stop.  I eat 6 small meals a day, so I never feel deprived, and it really helps with the urge to snack.  There is less of a reason to, since I always have a meal coming up soon.

After two years, my pouch is in fine working order, as long as I follow the rules:  protein first, followed by vegetables.  Severly limited simple carbs.  No question is too personal for me, and always feel free to ask anything.

Thank you! I'll have to try that myself (telling myself I am not hungry).  I also like the idea of 6 small meals spread out through the day.
