CURIOUS: How far Post-Op are you AND approximately how much food can you eat at each...
on 1/13/17 4:53 am - GTA, Ontario, Canada
At 5 weeks out I also could only eat 1/4 cup (2oz), that is right on track. I am 3 yrs post RNY and a slider food like yogurt I can eat a cup easy, chicken, beef, pork chops I can eat 5oz - 6oz if that's all I eat. If I eat a salad or veggie with my meal then 3oz-4oz of dense protein only.
At 3 yrs post op the only things that don't sit well are eggs, they are hit and miss with my pouch and that's too bad because I love eggs, best way I can eat them is in egg salad or devilled eggs. And ground beef is also hit & miss. I can rarely do hamburgers, it sits like brick in my pouch. But I can eat it as chili or in a taco. Its weird what I can eat some others can't and visa versa.
Good luck!

I can eat a mountain of crackers, chips, toast, etc etc etc. And then want another mountain of them.
Dense protein everyone. That's the magic postop food.

Over 8 years out. I can eat 2 bites or 2 cups of food.
Depends on the day, time of the day, and what is it.
At 5 weeks post op - the nerves are still healing. So most likely you don't get the "full signal". Real full signal.
That for me returned at app 3-4 months post op. And I am still learning my" I am full" signals .... I often eat until "I am no longer hungry" rather than "I am full" if I eat until "full" I often overeat.

I am 8 years out and can eat a regular sized meal at a restaurant. I can eat a ton, but don't most of the time. After a certain amount of time, for most of us, we can eat a lot more than we could early out. It is up to us how much we actually eat. If I want to stay at my goal weight, I know I cannot eat as much as I can eat.

At nine years out, I would have no problem eating a large salad, 8 ounce steak, baked potato, side of vegetables, and finishing with chocolate fudge cake.
Or a dish of lasagna or spaghetti with meatballs. I can eat as much as I want and if I get full and wait a few minutes I can continue eating.
If I ate what I "can" eat I would weigh what I used to weigh. Restriction goes away. The only thing that works for me now is to always "be on a diet" and always count carbs, protein and calories.
Enjoy the new feeling of being full on a tiny amount of food. Learn to eat the proper foods now while you have the magical honeymoon that follows surgery for about one or two years.
I look back longingly to the days when one or two bites of food filled me up for hours.

Surgery will not protect you forever. Surgery will not stop us from putting food in our mouths. Learn new habits early.
When you can eat more, it's just the way it happens. The surgery doesn't fail. A revision will not help. The only thing that keeps working is what's between our ears.
Weight loss surgery is something like bankruptcy. It can wipe the slate clean, and give us a fresh start. It won't keep us from going into huge debt again if we do the wrong things.
Use the fresh start wisely.
