Protein Shakes to recommend before surgery?
Hello,
If you are looking for pre-mixed shake, Premier Protein (Costco) is very good. They are very low in carb though so you might need to be careful if you are diabetic.

My surgeon wanted me on Bariatric Advantage brand shakes. It's expensive but they taste great - especially the banana - and have high protein and low carbs. Good luck on your journey. Btw, you can order from Amazon
I have to drink Optifast 900 only. It was a prescription from my surgeon, and not cheap. I started Day 1 yesterday and hated my first shake with a passion, but what a difference a day (and some ice) makes! My first shake this morning was much better, and I just finished my 4th shake of the day (I need to take 4 a day) and found it delicious. It's like my brain and tongue are playing tricks on me, lol. I don't know if it's because yesterday's first shake was made with tap water, and was not very cold because there was no ice made, and today's was made with bottled water and ice, or if I'm just hungry, but I went from hating them to tolerating them to thinking they're yummy. I hope I won't hate them again tomorrow, lol.
Good luck!

Hi! I'm on my fith day of Optifast. I did a vanilla one with half a Crystal Light singles (raspberry peach with 3g. of inulin) and it tasted like confetti cake batter. You can add any sugar-free water flavouring to change it up a bit.
I also made a pudding/ice cream out of the chocolate one. Crushed 5 ice cubed, then add Optifast and 4 onces of cold water. Blend til smooth. I did one with a very small splash of mint extract and one with almond extract to change it up.
There are a few other suggestions in the booklet I got from the bariatric center in case you'd like more ideas. Just let me know
Yum; confetti cake batter! I'll have to try that. I have some raspberry/blueberry crystal light in the little squirt bottle that i'm going to try later.
Pudding/ice cream sounds great. I"d love more suggestions if you don't mind. I didn't get a booklet :-(.

Another vote for Premier Protein here (I buy them from Amazon), and Atkins Advantage are good, too. I was surprised how much I enjoyed them, remembering the nasty Slimfast shakes from the 90s. Good luck with the liquid diet!
