Appetite in the morning?

Mon-Fri I don't eat until around 9 or 10am, sometimes as late as 11am. Sat/Sun its all over the place depending on when I wake up, but generally on the weekends its coffee FIRST and if hubby and I have plans I will make sure I have something with protein and its usually a yogurt or babybel.
Mon-Fri I get up between 4:45-5am, shower & get dressed, make my 1st coffee of the day with Miralax and head out to the commuter train. When I get to work at 7am I will have at least another 3-4 coffees before I eat. I am not hungry in the mornings and this works for me. I will eat breakfast at around 9 or 10am, lunch at around 2pm and dinner is usually 7 - 8 pm, I also have snacks in between lunch to dinner and dinner to bedtime. I think eating withing 30 mins of waking is not a "rule" and your RD just made that up. I eat 2 babybel when I get into bed, I literally I put them on my night table, get into bed, turn on the news, eat my 2 babybel and shut the TV off and go to sleep. I find by eating something that has protein right before bed I don't wake up "starving." Works for me.
Pre surgery though was a different story, I would roll out of bed and without my eyes even open or focused yet I would be grabbing for food and it was usually cookies or left over birthday cake LOL

I take a thyroid medication around 6:30am... I'm not supposed to eat for an hour, which is never an issue for me. I get to work on an empty stomach (minus the 24ounces of water/miralax I drink on the way to work), and have some decaf... 2 mugs full, with creamer/SF syrup... then I eat around 9:30am...
I used to drink a shake on the way to work, but then I was hungry before lunch. Now I don't have that problem (although, sometimes I'll still eat a cheesestick on my way to the gym at lunch, but then I don't eat lunch until around 1:30)

I read this thread yesterday, and didn't think much about it except....I'm not really a morning person, and I prefer to have a cup of coffee before I put anything solid in.
Well, this morning, my DD, she's eight, wanted to half a banana with me. So, we were sitting at the table and sharing the split banana, and I'm amazed at how much better I feel today. I feel like I have a little more energy than I usually have, and that's pretty amazing, if you ask me.
So, maybe try to get something in within an hour of when you wake up (or your normal wake up time) and see if you can tell any difference in the way you feel.

I will be 13 years out on the 15th of this month. I'm not a morning eater. I feel sick if I eat when I first get up. I get up at 5:15 Monday through Friday and don't usually eat anything until about 9:30 after I get to work and get settled at my desk. Then, I quit eating about 7 p.m. every evening. This works for me. The weekends are a little different but I try to keep a routine.
Unsure if you are diabetic or not....
If so, eating within an hour of waking up is important so that your liver doesn't dump a bunch of glucose into your bloodstream and raise your BGs.
