New recipe perfect for RNY!  Tonights my first time making it.  I'm going to add a some grated cheese and a dollop of sour cream for more protein.

I can't get past the words "Vegetarian" and "Chili" in one sentence...

I think of chili, and all I think of is meat... but then I'm from Texas.

I agree.  It's more like a lentil stew!

I don't know if you are watching your carbs or not, but imho you're not getting the 'bang for your buck' eating lentils as your main meal...

1/4 C has over 10g of carb, and less than 5g of protein...

Just a thought. Don't want to rain on your parade

But then... I am a Grim follower in the love of meat, and all things dense in protein...

Throw a steak or two in there for good measure!

The lentils in the entire recipe are 40g of Carbs.  Break that down into my serving and I'll be getting about 2-3 grams.  I think I'll be OK.

I did suggest adding some grated cheese and a dollop of sour cream to the individual bowl to up the protein.  My doctor today told me that we're all constipated because we don't get enough fiber. Complex carbs are OK sometimes in balance.

It's all about protein first.  I get that.  But it's also about balance.

I get zero fiber, take no supplement to help me go, and am never constipated.

Amen, Grim.  I would NOT have been successful eating like this.

TO each his own, I suppose.  :-)

To those interested, I verified the carb count in this recipe.  It makes 6 servings -- each with 244 calories, 36 grams of carbs and only 10 grams of protein.  Even if you only ate a 1/4 of a serving, that would mean you'd be getting less than 2.5 grams of protein for a whopping 9 grams of carbs.  That's a third of the carbs I eat in a whole day and I am three years out.

The math never works out on stuff like this. If someone can transition to this in maintenance, its one thing. But in weight loss mode, it really should be protein, and nothing but.

Spencerella (where has she been?), had a great plan. Every food gets to be one thing only. Popcorn has some protein, but being mostly carb, its still a carb. Cheese has a bunch of protein, but still more fat. That makes it a fat, not a protein. And so on.

Losing, its all about protein, the denser the better.

I am one of those people that gets constipated when I get too much fiber. I do drink enough water and get fat. But fiber just does not work for my system.

There is a study that show that some people do much better on low fiber diet.
