Stuck at 147!

Hello all! I am about 7-1/2 months post-op lap-band to RNY revision, and am 22 pounds from my goal weight -- and I'm stuck at 147! I work out HARD (boot camp hard) usually five or more times a week, and usually follow the  RNY rules. I did get off just a bit during the holidays, but I got back on track quickly. Any suggestions of how to kick it into high gear to lose the final 22?

Take your time.  It takes time. Be patient. it is not a sprint. It's a marathon.

If you follow the rules and working our - the weight will drop.  In time.

I also appear to be stuck but I'm 13 months out. I'm just being impatient :)

Once you get down to the last 20 pounds, it is really hard. You've been doing this for a while, and that makes it harder. Do you weigh and log what you eat? Portions creep up if you are just estimating.

When I was my largest, I could eat 3,000 calories a day and lose pretty quickly. Now I would gain. It's just how it works.

You could also be caught in the workout Catch 22. Working out hard damages muscles, and you retain a lot of water. In the long run, working out is good for you but slows weight loss in the short term.

The best thing you can do is look really closely at what you are eating. If your calories are low, you'll just need to be patient. If your eating has crept up, either be happy where you are, or make an adjustment.

The sad truth is, it gets harder as you go on. That's why I really try to emphasize people should be super strict their first 6 months to a year.

Thanks Grim! I have gotten away from measuring my food! I'll get back to that.

So we are really close in surgery dates... and I just know now that I go for days (usually around 10) without losing anything... then I'll drop 1-3lbs, rinse and repeat. It's my new 'norm' for now...

How long have you been stuck?

maybe you need to just do a week of AMAW and see if that doesn't get you dropping a few pounds? I've been considering it myself. Just remember, if you are working out that much, you can't compensate with food... keep your carbs low (that's what the VETS say, and I know they're right).

We still have time to lose more... at 7.5 months, we have at least 4.5 months, and possibly longer for the malabsorption, so as long as you are eating clean then it should happen, right? At least that's what I'm telling myself! LOL

I've been somewhat stuck since Dec. 23!! I've lost maybe  a pound and a half since then.

Like others have said the last 20 pounds can be hard. Try not to get obsessed with the number. Look at what you have done so far. Make a list of things you couldn't do pre-surgery. And look what you can do now. Big change.

I am not saying give up. Just look at what your eating. I know the farther I got out from surgery I could eat a lot more.

If you feel restriction you can do this. One day at a time.

The last 15 pounds were harder than the first 200.  Seriously.

Slow and steady wins the race.
