What's on your Saturday Menu, RNYers?

Good morning! We are hunkering down today for a big old blizzard and the possibility of a 14"-18" of snow (yesterday the forecast was 3"-6", btw). Since I am in education, I generally hate when big storms like this happen on the weekend, but today I am content to have an excuse to stay inside and relax. I finally got most of my unpacking/organizing done over Christmas break, so it feels nice to be here without feeling the weight of a huge "to-do" list hanging over me. The only thing that makes me sad is that I still haven't had time to have Christmas with my family, yet. Hopefully the storm moves out quickly enough for us to get there tomorrow!
Ok today's QOTD is for post ops (pre-ops, I hope this gives you some good ideas)... What part of post op life are you ROCKING? There are so many facets--planning and tracking meals, weighing your food, drinking enough, taking vitamins, cutting out snacking, exercising, etc. I was a model citizen for about a year, and then started slipping in a few areas. But I have always been a rock star about packing my meals for the day and never ever going off plan by buying lunch out. I'm also pretty good about not snacking. It's gotten a little harder, but I rarely stand in the kitchen with no plan. I used to be the best about vitamins, too. But during the move, those routines got lost. I am back at it--vitamins are doled out in am/pm doses for the week, and I already feel 100% better. Next up: gotta get back into a real exercise routine. I actually miss it, but just can't seem to fit it back into my schedule.
In other random news--does anyone live near Vegas and want to meet up on January 18th or 19th? I am going to be there for a work conference and won't know a soul. I'd love to meet up and have someone to explore with!
B: Fit Frappe Mocha with coffee (have I mentioned that suddenly I can handle caffeine, now? Woot!)
S: Chocolate Oikos Greek Yogurt with Mint Chocolate Protein Powder mixed in
L: Not sure? Either a chef's salad/ham/steak tips
S: Cheese Stick & Chomps Meat Stick
D: Not sure about that either. We were supposed to go out to a movie and dinner with friends, but 18" of snow might keep us homebound...

JB, I just posted in my VSG maintenance group about the snow coming - sounds like you heard that we were getting even more than I thought! At least it is on the weekend.
QOTD: I probably do best at vitamins - I have timers going off all the time so I can space out the ones with iron from the ones with calcium. I've also developed some good snacking habits, eating every 2-3 hours to keep me from getting overly hungry and devouring things like the chocolate chip cookies which my husband has stashed in his closet.
B: eggbeaters, cottage cheese, and roasted tomatoes/chilis
L: tuna, pickles, cottage cheese
D: shredded chicken with peppers and onions cooked in marinara and pesto in my new Instant Pot (first use - it was a success!)
S: jerky, nut thins and hummus, protein bar

Yep channel 4 says we are getting walloped!
I totally agree that 5-6 small meals is they key to no snacking. I'm always shocked when people only post 3 meals. I could never do that.

Happy Saturday friends!! What a crazy busy emotional week it has been. I have been reading all your posts and they are quite therapeutic. Earlier this week my daughter was diagnosed with Graves Disease what a scary thing to hear your 21 has so I spent a lot of time this week doing research online, talking to doctors, and chatting with her two best friends at school because she goes back to DC today so my husband and I needed to feel ccomfortable that she had a strong support system there as well and she does, thank god! So back she goes today hopefully if the snow storm does not delay her they are supposed to get three inches of snow which down there is an apocalypse...
Finally on to QOTD I am so diligent about packing my lunch and snacks I don't eat out and when I go into the reception area with all the snacks are I make sure I have a water cup or something in my hand so I don't have a free hand to grab a snack or treat...
Food for the day is a little up in the air we have to have oour daughter at the airport at 3:30 and we decided to try and sneak a movie in before we go so I will chomp on some almonds while we watch La La Land...
Have a great day friends.... Thanks again for all your support and friendship.
Ok. I can't say I noticed any voice changes until after the thyroidectomy- but that would be expected for any throat surgery. It did take a while for my voice to come back. Medications carried me stable for a while- so that's a worthwhile option.
