How good are you with NOT drinking before, during, and after eating?
This is the video that shows what those sips of water do. I never drink for 30 minutes after eating. I have waited as long as four hours to drink.
Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
I haven't had the procedure done yet, but am practicing the 30/30 rule to try to get into the habit. I was struggling with it for awhile and then my NUT suggested adding watery pieces of fruit (i.e. clementine or watermelon pieces) to help with not being able to drink during and after the meal. Also, she suggested that if you must drink something, to put a shot glass with water on the table and take small sips from that if you need to. Like I said, I haven't had the procedure done yet (will be soon, though!), so I can't say from experience other than just preparing for surgery. Hope maybe this helps :)
I have always sipped as needed with meals since I started eating whole food, I attribute some of my success to the fact I kept myself from overeating by moistening up my food thereby increasing the volume. The whole wa**** through your pouch is a myth for me. You asked, I answered, I don't recommend it just telling you how I stayed at goal for 12 years. That and drinking tons of unsweetened tea and lemon alllllll the time, like seriously I never set foot out of my house without a cup filled with ice, a whole cup up lemon and unsweetened tea, I add water as the tea is drank, so then I am basically drinking lemon water. It is my savior especially because I have a very sensitive stomach to smells and flavors can make me instantly queasy, like going in Starbucks smelling the coffee is sheer torture, or the red wine my husbands drinks at dinner, just revolting. Tea sooths my stomach.
