How good are you with NOT drinking before, during, and after eating?

I'M HORRIBLE AT IT....but a work in progress is just that.  I'm trying!

I don't really monitor my drinking in the 30 minutes BEFORE I eat something.

I'm really trying to stop drinking DURING my eating, at the most I take the tiniest of sips of water.

And then AFTER I'm finished eating I'm supposed to wait 30 minutes.

Uggggggg.....

Unless I'm uncomfortable in my chest from the food, I'm constantly catching myself reaching for something to drink!!!

Anyone else struggle with this like crazy???

Honestly not great. I don't worry about it all before eating. I drink right up to eating. I try not to drink during.  I am really really bad at it actually.  Matter of fact until I read this I cant remember the last time I thought about when I drink.  I typically only drink water and protien and the occasional tea or coffee.

Thanks for the reminder.

I don't wait a certain time before I eat. I do wait the 30 min after, sometimes stretch that to an hour.

I don't like to but to be honest it makes me sick and makes my acid reflux worse if I don't wait the proper time

I do struggle with this.  A. LOT. My NUT told me that I could have a small sip or two while eating, but I'm still not sure about it, so I try to avoid it as much as possible.  Mostly, I want a drink right after I eat to was the taste of food out of my mouth.  They did tell me that it was alright to have a sip directly after the food, so I try to take the tiniest sip that is humanly possible and swish before I swallow it.

It's a real struggle, though.

I use sugar free mints.  I pop one or two once I'm done eating.  It serves a dual purpose; it eliminates the "food" taste and also signals my brain that I'm done eating.

Yes!  I use those or Altoids Arctic.  They're not SF, but they're small and strong so I don't need too many.

Thanks for the tip.  I'll have to try this post surgery.  I am pre-op and have always loved drinking water; I'm always thirsty. I"m not diabetic or anything but i am on asthma meds that make my mouth really dry.  I was wondering how on earth I could go without drinking during and after meals post-op.  I'll definitely try the sugar free mints.
