HUNGRY
So, weirdly enough, I've suddenly gotten hungry. Not just head hunger, but really do feel hungry. I had surgery May 2nd, so maybe I'm just getting to that point. I've also added exercise in the past week, which I am loving, but I'm thinking it may be contributing.
For breakfast this morning I ate 1 egg/wonton cup and was satisfied around 0600. By 0730, I was already hungry again. Maybe I should have brought another one with me to work to eat, that solid protein seems to hold me longer. But I just ate my morning snack (greek yogurt).
So far I'm staying on plan, at least since the holidays are over and I AM seeing the scale move, but anyone have advice about this? Is this the time to add in some low cal sides like side salad, veggies, etc? Or more protein?
Also, I know hunger is not an emergency lol! I just don't want to get so hungry that I'm stopping for any kind of junk food instead of staying on plan.

Yeah, this is about the time when hunger returns for most of us. 6 to 12 months. It really stinks. That's one of the reasons we always encourage people to really dig in those first 6 months or so. It gets harder.
A lucky few never feel hungry again, but that's not the reality for most of us. Hopefully the habits and success you've had up until now will help you navigate this.
You'll do fine. Keep slugging away.

Would you mind giving us honeymooners a bit more detail about what "really digging in" during this phase entails? I'm assuming you would advise keeping carbs to a minimum, staying under 800 calories, getting at least 60 to 80 grams of protein and recommended fluids and multivitamins daily but is there anything else we should be doing to maximize weight loss before hunger returns?
Thank you!
That's pretty much all you can do. Tons of fluid. Extra protein. Keep the carbs as close to nothing as you can. And get in the habit of weighing your food on a scale and logging every bite. No eyeballing. Eyes lie.
No cheating or testing the waters. Be a machine.

Not sure what we (I) would do without you Grim. Although I think I was advised that calories closer to 600 before 6 months out is better.
And just to second that eyeballing thing. Grim had suggested that although I knew how much cottage cheese fit into my little bowl I should still measure. Amazing how an extra 1/2 cup mounded on top can look like nothing ;). And that 1/2 cup adds another 100 calories.
Chassi,
You're not alone on this one... I too started working out this week, and while I know what I'm doing isn't that strenuous to warrant extra food, I'm hearing my stomach growl (in hunger) here lately...
I was attributing it to not eating completely clean during the holidays, snacking on crap, and generally just getting out of my routine. I keep HOPING it'll subside once I'm back into the routine and being my usual 90% compliant self.
But maybe it's our 'time' so to speak to now learn how to deal with hunger...
Ick.
