What's on your Menu Today (Wednesday) RNYers?
the "Arctic air mass" hits today. I hate this. I think I'll work remotely today - go to some coffee shop that has free refills so I can slam a quart of coffee while I pound away on my laptop. Sounds perfect!!
QOTD: I guess I'm in the middle. Unlike years ago, I now fall asleep pretty quickly. I wake up at least once or twice a night, but I usually fall back to sleep right away. I keep the radio on low all night (the BBC - so I can listen to the news if I can't sleep) - but I rarely hear it and it doesn't bother my sleep at all. Although it's such an ingrained habit that I have a hard time falling asleep when I'm away from home if I don't have the BBC on. When I was at my brother's in October, I had to livestream it from my laptop all night!
19 months out
B: plain 2% Greek yogurt, blackberry/blueberry sauce
S: SF pumpkin protein latte, coffee with half & half
L: small piece of leftover zucchini lasagna
D: leftover beef stew or cassoulet
S: a Greek yogurt later if I can afford the calories
I really should exercise today because I didn't yesterday - but going to the gym or doing water aerobics in this cold isn't sounding appealing *at all*.
Morning! I love the short week- but you can keep that crappy weather. We finally has some sunshine after about 3 days of rain.
QOTD- I'm a heavy sleeper between 11pm-2am, I call those my core sleep hours- not much will wake me. From 2AM on I'm a light sleeper and wake easily.frequently. I'm well rested though so it never bothers me.
20 months out, 195 today
M1: 6oz ham (finally finished the last of the Christmas ham!), 1 fried egg, cheese
M2: chicken burger patty with cheese

It's been hot here. It was in the 80's all last week. The temp is supposed to drop later this week. This kind of weather is what makes people so sick. So far I've been lucky!!
QOTD: I'm confused on what I am. I know I sleep hard and I am horrible at waking up in the morning. I am always groggy. If I wake up 1 minute before my alarm I will still go back to sleep. I am one of those that snoozes my alarm 20 times!! BUT, with all that being said, I hear everything! I know if my kids get up and at the same time every night my dogs come over to the side of my bed wanting me to pick them up. They never come to bed with me. They wait until the whole house is settled and around 2 or 3am will come and put their paws on the side of the bed and somehow that wakes me up. My bed is high so I just reach over and grab them by their scruff, pull them in and go right back to sleep. I always thought I got 8 hours or more a sleep a night until I got my fitbit and saw that I was only getting about 6.
B - Forgot my shake again. I don't like eating in the morning so coffee it is.
L - Baked Salmon with artichokes, beets & turnips.
S - P3 protein pack
D - Grilled chicken salad
S - Quest protein chips or chicken soup flavored protein

Good morning everyone! Finally got off my butt yesterday to do some exercise beyond walking. My goal for the week was to do 30 mins of Zumba 4 times although in hindsight 30 mins may have been a little ambitious for my first time back into it. I completed it but I kept checking my fitbit between songs and expecting some sort of alarm to go off as I was panting and sweating everywhere. I felt a little nauseous and lightheaded afterwards and ended up having a 45 min nap but felt 100% when I woke up and managed to exceed my step goal for the day as well. I may modify my schedule to reduce the workout time a little but increase the frequency until I get back in the groove of it all.
QOTD My sleep has improved drastically since I started using my CPAP. I used to pass out after work most days and then struggle to fall asleep at night. I never realized what a huge impact my restless sleep had on my day, I just assumed my physically demanding job made me tired. My sleep test revealed an average of 74 apnea episodes per hour so my quality of sleep was terrible. I was always hesitant to go for a sleep test because I assumed it would be even harder to fall asleep strapped into a mask but how wrong was I!? It's so much better now that I don't like falling asleep without it. Now I fall asleep rather quickly but I'm still easy to wake.
B - decaf and sf coffemate, protein drink
L - chicken
D - more chicken (made in the crockpot yesterday with calorie free honey dijon, turned out great)
S - turkey, laughing cow triangle
totals 441 protein 78g carbs 5g
Have a great day everyone.

HI FozzieBear - What your daily step goal? I don't know if I'm under or over doing it. Mine is 8,000-10,000 which is very hard for me. I have a desk job, but still try to get up every hour and I walk on my breaks (when it's not raining!). I will get on the treadmill at home to meet my goal, most days that is...

I set my Fitbit for 8000 steps right after surgery and was fairly consistently getting to goal in the beginning, and occasionally up to 10000. I had intended to increase it to 10000 once I was feeling stronger but instead let myself get lazy with the holidays and the weather (currently a sideways wind/rain combo). Now I'm thinking I will aim for 8000 everyday this week and start increasing it each week by 500 for the next few weeks and add additional exercise (zumba, cycling etc.). I don't think it's possible to overdue it with just walking.
I'm not working at the moment though so I can understand it's harder to get it all in when you're sitting at a desk for a portion of the day. Congrats on your success so far!

That is a great idea! I consider myself lucky to get 8000 on the weekdays. The weekends I am more active so it's a little easier. Going to start the gym in a couple weeks, hoping that will help bump up the number as well! Good luck with your steps!!!!
Congrats on your success as well!!!
Hi Daisy and everyone!
Happy new year! How can a short week feel soooo long? Is it Friday yet? Ha!
I have been an AWFUL sleeper since RNY. Honestly, I take a Benadryl most nights, which helps me fall asleep, but then I wake up way early. I mean, why am I lying wide awake at 6 am on a Saturday? I would love to get 8 hours of sleep but it doesn't seem that will ever happen.
I have fallen WAY off the exercise wagon so I am headed to the gym at lunch today. Me and all of the resolution people, ugh. Wish them luck - that I don't hit anyone over the head with a weight ;)
Time Since Surgery: 3 years, .5 months
B: A huge coffee with cream, then later on leftover tuna salad with pickles and mayo
L: A salad with cucumbers, snow peas, honey turkey, spicy cheese, hard-boiled eggs, green olives, and a new apple honey mustard dressing
D: Pan sauteed flounder, smashed potatoes, roasted broccoli
E: An hour on the elliptical while I watch Real Housewives (guilty pleasure!)
My menu looks delicious although higher in carbs than I should be having! Have a wonderful day, all!
Good morning everyone! Hope you're staying warm, because, I know I'm not! The snow is supposed to hit us on Thursday night, they are saying only flurries, with a TON of wind (Duh, this IS Oklahoma), and freaking really cold temps! But I also overheard the weather this morning mentioning 60's... so that must be next week. Gotta love all this crazy weather. Not!
So, why is it we tend to do so perfect ALL DAY LONG with our eating... and then it seems that evening time at home is the weakest link for most of us? I did great yesterday... ate on plan, worked out, got my steps in... then I walk in the door, and I slam a handful of peanuts before I go feed the horses... then a handful of those Durkee friend onions after that... then dinner was delayed, and I opted for about 15 of those mini pretzels!!! WTF, Pamela... this is NOT the way to do this! Ugh.
QOTD: BC (before Children) I was the deepest sleeper ever. Then I had kids, and that all changed. I would wake up at the slightest noise... cue in the new husband, who is a light sleeper, and two teens instead of toddlers, and my sleeping has most definitely deepened. Mostly I'll wake up if I hear something, or a dog needs to go potty, but I ignore it in my sleeping state, and hubby jumps out of bed to take care of whatever it is... so I don't NEED to be the light sleeper (ex couldn't have cared less what went on while he was asleep, and I had to deal with it all)... so I'm turning back into a much heavier sleeper again! Score for me. I like my sleep! I got a Fitbit for Christmas, and while on vacation, left to my own sleep schedule, I was getting 9 hours of sleep. My body likes 9 hours! (And I knew that, but the Fitbit confirmed for me)
Weight this morning 161.4
B: 2 cups of decaf with SF syrup and powdered creamer (Because I haven't remembered to bring any milk in here!)
B2: 2.7 ounces of steak (soon, my tummy is hungry this morning, but I'm ignoring it!)
L: 2.7 ounces of steak
S: cheese stick
D: the tacos that we didn't have last night - sans any tortillas
S: Homemade Latte with Fairlife milk and SF syrup

Hello everyone! My kids started back to school yesterday, and it has been a painful reentry into the world for all of us. So much stress! I get to meet with my mental health counselor today.
qotd: very light sleeper
menu: I got into some bad habits over the holidays. I am up 1.5 lbs since Christmas, and I went into Christmas at the upper end of my "comfort weight zone." So I need to take off 2-7 lbs now. (7 would put me at the bottom of my comfort zone, which would be good!)
today's menu:
b: egg with grape tomatoes and cheese
l: fish taco, no tortilla
d: sausage red sauce over ricotta bake (pasta for the family)
s: home baked Parmesan crisps. Gouda cheese. Yes, cheese is my treat.
