I am getting a bit discouraged

I couldn't stand any protein shakes... I tried them all. Unflavored protein powder was the best solution for me. I put a little bit in everything (soup, yogurt, coffee, etc). I still have it in my iced coffee. We are all different. Just keep trying different things; you will find something that works for you. Good luck.

I sill have a hard time tolerating many of the protein shakes.  I seem to struggle with milk, but can eat cottage cheese and yogurt.  As mentioned those might be good options for you.

I found Isopure at GNC or probalance protein water at Target.  They are fruity tasting and help me reach my protein and liquid goals.

BTW, I struggled with meeting my protein and liquid goals for the first 2+ months.  My tummy was just tender and it was impossible for me to intake the amounts that were suggested/expected.  Around month 3, I was finally able to get in what I needed to.  Remember it takes about 12 weeks for most of us to completely heal.

Good luck!

Get your butt over to the website "World According to Eggface" she has a ton of pureed recipes and soft food stage and regular food stage. I used her site a lot when I was early out.  I LOVE her egg bites, best invention ever!

A lot of people early out use her "ricotta bake" recipe and LOVE it.

You can put unflavoured protein into anything to up your protein.  Early out I put a scoop of  unflavoured into SF (sugar free) apple sauce and SF pudding.  I also ate a lot of soup and put unflavored protein in that too.

Protein drinks don't have to be milky, you can mix it with water if that helps and by mixing with water it saves on calories.

Check out the baking aisle at your local grocery store where you would find things like "almond extract." . I used Orange extract in my vanilla shake for an "Orange creamsicle" kind of flavour.   I used chocolate protein shakes and added raspberry crystal light powder for a chocolate raspberry shake.  Anything to get those shakes down!

Best of luck!

Good Afternoon! My team didn't want us drinking protein shakes so I had ate Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, ricotta bake and things like that as I could tolerate them. I hope you start to feel better soon and find options that will work for you.

I had the vertical sleeve surgery but like you could not tolerate the protein shakes for a number of weeks. Anything savory hit the spot but sweets made me super nauseated. Unjury Chicken soup has a lot of protein.  I ate it a lot the first few weeks. Another meal that didn't nauseate me was non fat refried beans, melted mozzarella and low sodium taco seasoning. Morningstar Farms griller crumbles (frozen section) with melted cheese. Cottage cheese. Hoping these ideas help.

I'm also a Greek yogurt fan.  I eat plain greek yogurt with no sugar added raspberry preserves, a few frozen berries that I defrost in the microwave and a couple packets of splenda.  I eat this pretty much every day!  I've made it with stevia too but since I'm ok with a little splenda I prefer that.

Light string cheese is also a great option at 50 cal and 7 grams protein each.

I used a lot of egg faces tips also early on, especially the refried beans with 2% cheddar cheese and taco seasoning.

Premier protein is about the only protein drink I like.  I do sometimes make a protein smoothie with 1 cup berries, I cup spinach/kale, 1 cup unsweetened almond water and I scoop Cryosport whey protein.  Early on in could only do about half a smoothie in 2 or 3 hours.  Also, my Dr let me count and protein shakes or liquids in smoothies towards my water.

Hang in there, it will get easier.

I was thinking about you and this post earlier today.  I hope that you are coming back and checking to see who all commented.  They have great ideas.  Going to eggface's website is a big (HUGE) help.

Ricotta Bake...yes...this is a great idea.  It's already pureed and instead of using canned spaghetti sauce, I used pizza sauce from a jar....great value brand...there aren't any chunks.

I was also thinking that if you liked cottage cheese, this would also help get you closer to your protein goals.

Also...one of my favs....Oikos triple zero yogurt (vanilla flavor) will two tbsp PB2 mixed in.  I thinned mine down a little with some skim milk.  This really helped get me through the pureed stage.

It won't be long before this is just a distant memory, and you're doing so great!

Let us know if you have any more questions.
