Not enjoy coffee.. please say it isn't so
I had rny on Dec 23, 2016 so about 10 days out. I have been doing very well. Struggling with getting in enough water and protein shakes but every day I see an improvement on the day before. I feel great! I have lost 12 pounds since surgery, 26 pounds since preop diet.
Biggest complaint is I can't stomach my beloved coffee.
Has anyone else had this happen and will my coffee love return?

Congrats on your successes so far! My reflux was terrible after revision surgery from band to bypass and it took 17 months to be able to tolerate anything but decaf :( What are your symptoms? It might be the milk, not the coffee...but either way, if you are not tolerating it, your body is telling you to stop for awhile. No doubt it will be doable again, soon enough :)

I think your a little early introducing coffee. I could not have it until about 3 months. I did not enjoy it at first, but my taste came back for it. I'm just about 4 months now.
Be patient, every week that goes by will bring new changes to your taste buds.

Every surgeon is different on coffee. Mine allowed decaf in the hospital as a liquid. He does restrict regular coffee to 16 ounces a day but says decaf is just fine. It did taste off to me at first as did most foods, but my love for it quickly came back and decaf is still my favorite beverage especially in the winter.
Totally agree with Karen, you are too early to have coffee, even decaf. You are still healing.
Wait until you are 12 weeks out before you try again. I waited much longer (1 1/2 years) and I enjoy a coffee about once a week.
Remember this is a time to break your food habits and establish new ones - water is healthier, if you can tolerate it.

Coffee didn't work for me until about 4 months. Every time I tried it made me nauseous and it didn't taste good. My surgeon said that many folks struggle with any hot liquids at first. I was freaking out thinking I would never be able to have my beloved coffee again but I assure you I need to buy stock in Starbucks now. All turned out well. Pre-surgery I drank it with sugar in it. Now I just use some half and half and no sweetener. Otherwise...back to my beloved habit. Give it time.

Good to hear I'm not alone on this lol.
I think it's the hot liquid I'm not doing well with.
I will wait and try again next month.
Thanks folks :)
