Ticker weight loss in your signatures so inspiring
The physician at the weight management centre and I discussed at length what I believed would be an achievable & realistic goal weight? Weighing HW of 283, I told him that I wanted to be in the 100s. He said pick an achievable & realistic weight.
Now, I am not your average bone sized gal. He reminded me that the BMI index would not apply to me. We actually shared a food laugh. He told me that many patients considered themselves "BIG BONED" and were not. He was surprised that I didn't blurt it out. Well... I am. Big boned. My size 11 feet & size 12 ring size. So he asked again... I said 175 and he said that it was not an achievable or realistic goal.
His goal for me was 190. He asked me why did you choose 175? I showed him a picture of me at 25 years of age and weighing 175. He was not surprised because while most people would say 175 was over weight. I looked pretty "smokin hot" in that picture. Will I ever look that that again? Not a chance!
Age and gravity have taken their toll. So I have decided to take this journey losing 1 lb at a time....
I have enclosed the picture. Reminder that I was 25 and young. I am now 52....
Tomorrow is my last day of Opti fast... Thank God!!!

IN THE END WE ONLY REGRET CHANCES WE DIDN'T TAKE.
You will not know what is an achieveable or realistic goal until you get there. 165 for me was a pie in the sky number that I never thought I'd get to. I had surgery 2 days before my 56th birthday. I went into this surgery with size 12 feet and still have size 12 feet (Some people do lose shoe sizes)...
All I am saying is don't sell yourself short. Set mini goals and push yourself along the way. As you get closer, then you decide 5lbs at a time to decide where you want to land.
Good Luck on Wednesday...

Wow, you weren't kidding when you said you looked smoking hot in that photo; wow! I haven't worn a two piece bathing suit since I was about 8 years old, lol. I was thin enough in high school but never had the confidence. I had a pretty bad view of myself when I was younger and I joined weigh****chers for the first time when I weighed 128 because I was convinced I was fat. Crazy!
Congrats on reaching the end of your Optifast journey! Surgery tomorrow! Are you excited/anxious? Keep us updated. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
Take care,
Kathy
Hello Kathi!
Yes, I am feeling a bit anxious this morning!
I have spent the last couple of weeks doing a lot of house work and what I call daily laundry. I can't believe how many clothes my three very young men generate.
I decorated the house for Christmas the first week of November as I had ankle surgery Remembersnce Day. One of my friends came over December 27th for a visit and ended up helping me out everything away.
I wanted to go into surgery having left the house really clean. I am sure the moms will help with meals. Not sure of the level of energy that I will have. Hoping that my three boys will help with the heavy lifting until I am ready to do it on my own.
I am going to venture into the MAN CAVE & tidy up down there.
I did most of my primping and pampering yesterday. This morning I am off to have a mani/pedi...
Thanks again for your enthusiasm and support
Sincerely
Sandra

Hi Kathy,
Congratulations on taking control of your health! Soon you will be posting your surgery date and your own ticker!
Some surgeons ask you to lose some weight pre-op. Ask your surgery what he/her procedure is? I worked towards my surgeon's goal and then blew passed it on my own. You will know what weight is right for you. We are here for you all the way

Hi Kathy S,
Thank you! I will have to first figure out how to add a tracker, lol.
I'm a Kathy S. too and every time I see your posts I do a double take thinking you're me lol.
My surgeon does expect me to lose weight prior to surgery. I have to do 3 weeks of Optifast in order to shrink my liver before surgery. I start next week, on the 11th, and can't believe it's already so close! I'm flying to Toronto on Sunday afternoon so I won't have to drive 700 km one way for my appointment.
Thank you so much for the support.
Kathy
When I went to my first appointment at the surgeon's office, I weighed 406 lbs (that was after losing some weight but I have no idea how much since my scale at home only went to 400). They asked me what my goal weight was and I said 199 lbs. They said that was a "lofty goal" and I should try for closer to 250. I am 9 months out and I weigh 246 right now (I did lose a lot of weight before my surgery), I see no reason not to get to 199 or lower. Never sell yourself short. You can do anything you put your mind to.
Good luck!
