Desperate! This is about severe constipation
I don't have any pat answers, but I've had a somewhat similar time with intestinal issues. I'm not trying to be mean here but you've GOT to either find a way to increase your fluids on the regular (every damn day) or you've got to live with the constipation. There is not a lot of middle ground here.
Personally dealing with nausea has been the worst for me but I drink between 2 and 3 liters of fluid a day. I've got a standing prescription for Zofran for nausea and I use it. I've also had times where I have to suck on ice cubes all day. For me, fresh lemon has made a huge difference in my water consumption and I'm always surprised at how thirsty I actually get. But anything liquid counts. I drink way more diet Coke than I'd advise but it's liquid and it counts and it works for me.
Your body is trainable. If you drank 2 1/2 liters of fluid tomorrow you'd probably get sick. I'm at the point now where I get sick when I don't. But I didn't get here overnight.
Find a way to get your fluids in or don't, but don't kid yourself into believing you are not making a choice. Because you are.
I wake up from a night's sleep dry and thirsty making for 20-30 ounces to go down with little effort. Warm water and flavored water goes down the easiest. Even if it can't be proven, a squirt of Minute Maid frozen pure lemon juice in the water makes me feel like it could help prevent kidney stone formation. Experimenting with different flavors, temperatures, brands can usually yield a favorite. For example, I prefer Propel over Gatorade G2 sport drinks and real lemon versus artificial sweeteners.
For the first year I found drinking difficult...I had to be on a schedule, and start with water at my bedside as soon as I opened my eyes and was getting ready taking my shower etc. As Gwen said- it is your #1 priority and more than 64oz --that is minimum.... Over time I have found coffee in the morning with miralax, and than lots of hot tea both caffeinated and herbal work best...then some water that I add a flavored drink to- about 3/4 water and 1/4 diet cranberry or vitamin water zero.
If you have a problem keeping it down- you need to figure out why....

I have recently started to have problems with constipation. I have upped my drinking, but with me I have to drin**** ICE cold water or HOT HOT decaf coffee or decaf tea. luke warm and I don't get along...lol I put Miralax in my morning coffee and I take a full dose of Milk of Magnesia at night, I still have some issues but it seems to be helping some. I have just started to do metamucil 3 times a day, but I have only started that yesterday so we will see.

What I learned the hard way about pain medicines is that if I am forced to take an opioid I need to take a laxative and stool softener along with it. My personal rule is one extra liter of water for one pain pill. It is sometimes hard to drink enough water when I am in pain.
I rarely had any issues before surgery. Now I have laxatives, stool softeners, suppositories, enemas, Imodium, and fiber pills and use whatever is needed. I think of my digestive system as a car that was working fine before it was wrecked in an accident and had to be patched back together.
The worst constipation lasted over two weeks and happened after an accident while skydiving. I did not know about the constipation side effect of the opioids. I kept asking doctors for help and they were pretty much unconcerned. I had no relief until I stopped the pills completely.
Please post again and let us know how you are doing.
Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
I had an RNY six years ago and suffered from constipation, sometimes severe, for over five years. Eight months ago, I had a baby and have been breastfeeding her. Nursing makes me extremely thirsty. I drink at least 100 ounces a day; I haven't had a bout of constipation since. In fact, I don't even have to take Colace any longer, when I had been taking four (or more) daily.
As others have said, hydration and healthy fats are key here. You haven't posted a sample menu of your diet, but are you eating foods that are contributing to the issue?

Update
After 2 days of Peg Lite I have finally had some relief. The pain is tolerable now. Still feel sick to my stomach but haven't vomited in a bit. I'm taking in as much fluids as I can. Zofran is a wonderful medication, but is very expensive. It is only covered by my plan if you are a cancer patient. However, I just found out that my Dr. can request to have this covered under special cir****tances. I plan on seeing her next week so I will ask her to do this.
I tries a poached egg and piece of toast today. I did not have a negative reaction. I looked up how to properly cook poached eggs. So maybe a trial and error is what I need to do. Maybe have sensitivity test done.
I know this is not going to happen in an instant and that it's going to take training myself and quite a bit of time. But so I can at least start looking, any menu ideas for a sensitive stomach?
