Hello y'all,

I have been MIA for a while but I am back because I see that I need your support. I am 4 years out and I am having the worst time with hair loss and weight gain.

I am going to the DR tomorrow am and I am going to ask if she will run all of the labs such as vitamins and hormones and what not but something has to give.

Do you guys have any suggestions?

Also is there an APP for this site?

Thanks

Jess

Great job for coming back and for getting in to see your doc-sounds like you are on the right path to getting back on track. I would suggest going back to the basics and make sure that you are eating protein forward and not drinking at least 30-45 mins after your last bite, drink plenty of water and make sure you're taking your vitamins.

As far as I know there isn't an APP but I have the website bookmarked on my home screen on my phoneso it's easy to get to.

Best of luck, hope you stop on often and that you find something that works for you.

You've done the most important step by acknowledging that you need help. I would suggest recording what you are eating--every bite for several days to see where you are calorie wise. If you are gaining you are obviously eating more than your body needs but you need to know what that number is so you can work down from there to stop the gain. Weighing and measuring all food is so important because the farther out from surgery we get the more we are able to eat. I'm 4 years and 4 months post op and know that if I allowed myself I could eat far more than what I need. I still measure every bite I eat and eat 3 meals of 1 cup of food and one small snack before bed each day. I eat my measured amount of food and not anymore and don't ever ask myself if I'm still hungry or not. So far I've lost over 150 pounds and kept it off for over 31/2 years. I keep my before picture posted on my frig to remind myself where I've come from. It helps me make good protein forward choices every day. And come post your food on our what's on your plate post everyday for some helpful suggestions and ideas. Welcome back.

I think starting with the labs is a great idea.  I have thyroid issues and that can cause hair loss and weight gain.  You should ask your doctor to check your levels on that as well.

Good Luck, I hope they get to the bottom of what is causing it for you.
