Hey all. I am new here and i had Laparoscopic RNY on 12/19/2016. I have a quick question for you. I have been feeling fine aside from being hungry. Protein shakes arent cutting it for me.  One of the sites of where i was opened is really black and blue and its getting worse. I am not in pain and it doesnt really hurt. I am just wondering if this is normal?

Congratulations on making it to the loser's bench!

Ouch!!!

Not sure if that is normal 7 days post op.

Did they give you (blood thinners) anticoagulants postoperatively?  Are you are blood thinners now?

Post RNYers can probably answer that better.

When is you follow up with surgeon or weight loss team?

Sending you positive vibes and healing.

Take care

Mahalo

I was done the day after you and had heparin shots for 3 days. The only bruising I have is where the IV was. I do know that there is a lot of tugging going on in there ;) I'd call and ask

yes, it can be normal. The lovenix plus the manipulation of the laparoscopic tools used during surgery can cause this much bruising.

It wouldn't hurt to run it by someone in your surgeons' office. This is a tough week between holidays, finding coverage that will be familiar with your particular case.

I had a lot of bruising but it slowly got better, not worse. I'd call.

My belly looks like yours...all bruised up! We had surgery on he same day too. My bruises are looking pretty purple and change a different shade everyday. Fun!   Pretty sure this is normal.
