Good morning menu crew! Hope your Christmas Eve is wonderful. It's raining here so our snow is disappearing and it's a bit icy. Already been to Walmart- they had prime rib on sale and that's what's for dinner on Monday. 

 

QOTD- you know that song from The Sound of Music? My favourite things so outside of people and food what are your favourite things?

 

Mine would be good coffee, good books, dogs, and a hot sunny beach. 

 

My my menu is up in the air today. So much to do. It will start with eggs.

Our weather here is gloomy and foggy so far but Lily and I got up at 6:30 and hit the streets to get our 3.2 miles in. My favorite things are music (especially Christian and country),good coffee and lots of it (post surgery 1 c regular and rest are decaf,)warm weather and the beauty of nature anywhere enjoyed with hubby and my boxer Lily in the camper. Definitely my favorite Things! Post op 4 years 4 months and weight at 117.2 today. Here's the eats B 1/2 c steel cut oats with protein and peanut butter added L  (big Christmas meal) 31/2 oz ham  1/2 c assorted veggies--some green beans and baby carrots D more ham and some lettuce salad S P3 pak. Have a great Christmas Eve day everyone and make some sensible choices that move you one step closer to your goal.

meeting a friend later for coffee, then making lasagnas this afternoon for Christmas dinner (one with regular noodles, one with zucchini for noodles).  I always think they're better the next day, so I thought I'd try just making them today.  Plus that means no cooking tomorrow - just heating 'em up!

QOTD:  coffee, hanging out at coffee shops, cats.  I'm also getting back into cooking after a long hiatus (well, of course I was still cooking all that time - but not like I did years ago when I was really into it - I'm getting back into it again).  I also like just being in my house.  I'm looking forward to retirement or working just part-time so I can be at home more and do whatever I want!

 

19 months out (almost):

 

B:  L&F vanilla yogurt with 1 T cranberry sauce and 1 T Kashi Crunch granola

S:  coffee with half & half, SF protein peppermint mocha latte

L:  carrot/ginger/chia soup, some kind of protein (tuna?)

D:  we're having a bunch of appetizers at my sister's tonight.  Everyone's bringing 2 or 3.  I doubt anyone will bring anything bariatric friendly, so I'm taking TJ's turkey meatballs with some homemade cranberry sauce, plus hummus and raw vegetables.  That'll most likely be my dinner...

I made Lasagna for tonite (made yesterday, it is better made ahead) Prime rib for Christmas!!   mmmmmmmm meat!

we make lasagna probably every other year for Christmas.  You can make it ahead, it feeds an army, and everyone likes it.  Plus since I made two, we'll have a lot of leftovers, and it freezes well.  I won't have to cook for a few more days!

QOTD: Sunny beaches- Check  Sun in general- Check Coffee and tea- Check.... Like Karen the coffee and tea is even more post WLS. ...I used to drink it but in the summer? not daily.... The warm liquids agree with the pouch I guess! Latest obsession- Chocolate Chai Latte!

My crazy Christmas thing I love.... are those stuffed animals that play songs and dance :) My son doesn't understand, but I love them...

Here is the original: skinny Chocolate chai latte

I usually make 16oz strong chai, heat i cup cashew milk in  a one quart wide mouth mason jar - 2 minutes in microwave- I add slightly heaping tbsp cocoa, dash lite salt, vanilla extract and sweetener and then use a stick blender to blend. Add my chai, and the a splash of half and half to make it creamier... yummmm I have one of those double walled stainless steel hot/cold things that will keep it hot for hours....
