Weight Limit for RNY
Some doctors and programs have weight limits. Sometimes it is because of the limitations of their equipment, sometimes it is the risk factor. But I would be shocked if Cleveland Clinic had a limit.
I was 475 with RNY. Best choice I ever made.
6'3" tall, male.
Highest weight was 475. RNY on 08/21/12. Current weight: 198.
M1 -24; M2 -21; M3 -19; M4 -21; M5 -13; M6 -21; M7 -10; M8 -16; M9 -10; M10 -8; M11 -6; M12 -5.
An individual clinic or doctor might have an upper limit but that does not mean that they will not work with the person to start loosing weight so they can get to the weight range that the program requires. One of the things that will be an issue with a very large person 400+# is the instruments might not be able to get through the fat layers for the doctor and the team to do the RNY AND the safety for a person to be under anesthesia for too long.
This being said I do not think that the team will outright say no to a patient for eventual surgery but will like I wrote above work with the patient to get healthier and loose some weight first.
Good luck!

I had my RNY at the Cleveland Clinic. I was 347 pounds -- so not that far off from 400 lbs.
