What's on your menu today (Friday) RNYers?
Good morning! Thanks for starting us off Hillary - I'm working from home and need the van later so had to drive hubby to work. I came home and had to get the kids out the door in time for the bus, and then spent 45 minutes on the phone with IT trying to log in to our work network - it's been a while since I logged in from home. I had a great guy though - we laughed a lot and that may partly have been why it took so long lol.
QOTD - Nothing I'm terribly excited about honestly. The kids all gave me a list so I shopped from that for the most part. It's almost all clothes for my 2 older kids. I'm not done my youngest yet. He didn't give me a big list- he has a PS3 which is an older system so I did get him 2 games for that and a gift card to the game store plus some other things he asked for. He wants to join the ski club at school, but it's $175.00 so I suggested to my husband that we make that part of his Christmas but he didn't think that was fair. It includes 4 trips to the ski hill so I think we should do it. He really, really wants to go, and it's a lot of money so I don't think it's a bad gift at all. Other than that, my husband asked for a new shaving travel bag and he wanted a leather one. I ordered one off of Amazon that wasn't supposed to get in until January, but it came very fast and I have it for him. It was a great price and I really think he will like it. We do go away a lot and he's had his current one for about 25 years so it's starting to get a little worn.
Have a great Christmas Eve Eve!!! I love Christmas.

This sits just a few feet from my desk today, a glazed spice poundcake from a client. It's taking all of me not to crack into it like i usually would, and any other year i would consume at least half of the bundt by the end of the day. Not this year though. I'm so happy to have my cheekbones back! I'll stick to my egg, and chilli, and protien drinks. Its tough becuase everytime i walk by, i get a whiff of cinnamon, sugar and butter and it calls to me. Here's to trying to stay strong.

Good Morning! Super quick post for me today as I am in the office trying to get my Friday paperwork done so I hit the road home ASAP. It's raining and I know the holiday traffic will start later so the sooner the better. That being said my menu is a bit up in the air depending on when I leave/get home. I did get in my 6 miles and know breakfast will be an egg white/spinach/cheese scramble and latte of course.
QOTD: I got Em a shirt she wanted (from a place called Ivory Ella) and I think she'll be excited because she didn't know I knew where to get one. Oh and I ordered hubby a Star Labs (from the Flash) shirt so he'll be giddy about that LOL.
Hope everyone has a great day, and in case you aren't on tomorrow Merry Christmas.
those DNA tests are fun. I've "met" several distant cousins through them (well, not too distant - more like 3rd cousins and my parents' second cousins). Some of them live in or near Chicago, so I've actually met them in person. And several I'm Facebook friends with now - people from all over the place. A lot of them are really into genealogy, so I've been able to fill in some of the gaps on my family tree - and I've been able to do that for them as well. It's been really fun! Keep in mind that the ethnic percentages they give you (e.g. 25% British Isles, 50% Scandinavian, etc) are really just guesstimates. They're probably in the ballpark, but they're not super accurate. What is accurate, though, are the lists of people you're related to - because they know how much DNA you share with them and can give a pretty good guess as to the relationship.
QOTD: I got everyone gift certificates this year, because that's what they wanted, so no really exciting gifts. Except for the gift I bought for myself: an Instant Pot. It's supposed to arrive next Wednesday. I can't wait!! I'm going to find a few recipes this weekend so I'll have something to play around with when it comes.
Today I'll probably leave work at noon. I'm in charge of making lasagna for Christmas dinner, and I want to bake it tomorrow because it's usually better the second day. Which means I have to make the marinara sauce today, since it has to cook down for like three hours. Don't really want to sit up half the night dealing with it, so I'll do it this afternoon. I made a fabulous cranberry sauce last night to go with the Trader Joe's turkey meatballs I'm taking as one of my appetizers for Christmas Eve. I had a spoonful of it on my yogurt this morning. OMG! I'll make it with Splenda next time, although since I only had a tablespoon of it, there probably wouldn't be much sugar to worry about....
18 months out:
B: L&F coconut vanilla yogurt, 1 T cranberry sauce, 1 T Kashi Crunch granola
S: coffee with half & half, SF protein pumpkin chai tea latte
L: probably the other half of the pork chop I made last night, coleslaw made with sesame-miso vinaigrette
D: another partial pork chop (we need to get rid of these stupid things before we're deluged with Christmas leftovers), coleslaw with sesame-miso vinaigrette
probably another Greek yogurt if I have enough calories left over (should...)
Miss Lily and I got our 3.2 miles in already in a sleet, snow, rain mix. We don't melt though and it felt great to get it out of the way. Got the youngest home from Atlanta last night. His flight got in at 940 only about 15 minutes late due to a delay in Atlanta. Not bad. He's home til the 3rd. My best present this year was the one hubby and I gave each other--our 2010 Jayco Melbourne RV. We've already had some great fun and can't wait for more trips to come. Other good gift was plane tickets so the youngest could come home. Those are both rather selfish gifts I guess.Post op 4 years 4 months and weight at 117.8 today. Here's the food for today B 1/2 c steel cut oats with protein and peanut butter added L 31/2 oz shrimp 1/2 c crab salad D 31/2 oz steak 1/2 c green beans S P3 Pak. Have a great day everyone and make some amazing choices that get you one step closer to your goal.
