Vitamin K
The K is actually from the German for clotting. I've never heard of WLS patients being prescribed it though. Most doctors never test for it.

Vitamin K is used to reverse the effects of bleeding if your blood is too thin. I have not heard of this being prescribed for this reason.
Most of WLS patients are given Heparin injections for the patient to administer themselves to keep the blood thin PO under a doctor's direction for the time frame that is needed.
I would rather that it be given by a doctor in the hospital if there was an emergency as it happened with my husband with a gastric bleed. (years PO RNY). They are the ones that can determine if you need it.
YIKES! I cannot imagine making that decision by myself.

I had a prescription for vitamin K when I had a tummy tuck back in the 90's. When I had my rny, I was not given vitamin K. I also did not have to take the shots after surgery to thin my blood. My husband has had to take the shots after several surguries (knee caps, knee replacement, etc.)

Are you on warfarin, by any chance?
Warfarin is a vitamin-k inhibitor, and it's effects can be halted pretty much instantaneously by a shot of vitamin K.
