Has anyone had a colonoscopy since surgery?
They told me no difference on the prep after bariatric surgery.

One thing I noticed - it took me longer to drink the prep (had to stop and let it move on). I couldn't guzzle it to get it down like I did pre-WLS. Thank goodness I have the smallest volume one! I'm off to have the second half of it now (yuck!).

I just had a colonoscopy and an endoscopy a couple weeks ago. I had to drink Suprep. It's a much smaller volume of liquid that you have to drink now than 10 years ago when I last had a colonoscopy. I had no problem drinking it down except that it tasted NASTY! The worst part is the full liquid diet the day before and drinking the nasty Suprep and getting cleaned out. You sleep through the procedure, so that part is a piece of cake. Good luck with your colonoscopy!
I'll be having one in the next few months. DH had one earlier this year and I'm using the same practice. His prep as I remember was clear liquids, 2 ducolax in the am, then starting at 1:00 ish he started drinking 64 oz of gatorade mixed with a whole bottle of Miralax. If my prep is the same, I plan to ask if I can use Gatorade G2 or something similar. Haven't had sugar since WLS and don't think that much gatorade would do well.

My husband had one a couple of days ago. He had to drink 4 bottles of Magnesium Citrate and lots of gatorade. I really would not be able to handle all that gatorade. Last time I had one I asked for the pill. It costs a lot more but worth it for me since I've never been a guzzler and I hate gatorade.
I had one pre=op and one post op. Prep keeps changing. The one tip I have is to get some ISOPURE protein. It is CLEAR and you can get it in apple, so you can keep up your protein through the prep. You cannot have the milky fluid during the prep.
I got mine at GNC and VItamin shop.
THere is a new prep where you are supposed to drink a lot of it within a short period of time - like 10 min. This is not a good idea. I found that my dr haad no clue of what guidelines I had to stay within in terms of how I ate. You may have to educate them.

Hate to say I am an expert, but I have had two since RNY. My Dr prescribes Half-lytely. It makes half the mixture with the same results. There are issues with drinking that gallon of Golytely. I mixed it with sf Crystal Light lemonade mix per their recommendation. Nothing red or pink but any other flavor. I can suck that down very quickly. It did not taste too terribly bad. No issues with the actual procedure. Before that I think I have had to drink the Golytely on ten different occasions for either surgeries or colonoscopies.
I don't think there are sugars in it. The taste of it without any flavoring will certainly gag you. GoLytely is Polythylene Glycol-3350, an osmotic laxitive, and Electrolyes; I did not see HalfLitely on their website. The have NuLitely, which also has PG-3350 and Sodium Bicarbonate, Sodium Chloride and Potassium Chloride. [My mom used potassium chloride instead of salt after her heart attack - terrible taste. I learned not to salt anything and still do not use salt unless it is absolutely vital for the taste of a dish due to that.] It comes with sf flavorings. The issue with the GoLytely is the possible side effects that include renal failure. My dr said something about the high dosage in the GoLytely and compared with the HalfLytely.
