Has anyone had a colonoscopy since surgery?
I have never personally had one - but my hubby is about to have one next week and they have him doing a prescription called Suprep to clean him out.
Starting 7 days prior to the procedure he is to stop taking all iron supplements, vitamin E, St. John's Wort, Fish Oil, and Gingko products. He's also supposed to stop all NSAIDS...Tylenol is OK.
3 days prior no fruits/veggies with seeds - like cucumbers, squash, broccoli, beans, kiwi, strawberries, raspberries, and no granola bars, high grain cereals/breads, oatmeal, nuts, corn, or popcorn.
It seems like it may be easier for you given that a lot of that stuff is already eliminated...
Hope this helps some :)

I have to say that the way he has to do his prep is extreme. I have microscopic colitis and IBS D and never have had to do what your DH has had to do. I have had a minimum of six colonoscopies . . . YIKES

This is his first one, so we really didn't know what to expect....other than spending a lot of time in the bathroom pre-procedure!
He has diverticulosis and has had several flare-ups....doc wants to make sure that's what's truly going on, and also make note of where the pouches are. No fun!

Lucky you... what a lovely experience it is. I had to take a very salty drink twice night before... I think one at bedtime and then one four hours before the colonoscopy. Horrible night. Nothing except clear liquids the day before. I had a good result, they said she hey would see me in ten years. Ha. If they can catch me. When I get thinner I will be able to outrun them...
I have had two so far. My gastro prescribes MoviPrep. It is very easy on the insides but it is taken in two stages. The late day before and then the part two the next early morning depending on when your scheduled test time. I had been through several colonoscopies before that and the prep was horrible. MoviPrep is by far the best.
My gastro knows of my RNY so the prep is easy on a RNY patient. The MoviPrep is by prescription from the doc.

I got some pills since I could not drink that much at one time. But Because I was very constipated - that did not work... Even drinking the liquids for one day doe notwork for me.
3 years ago I had one and It took 2 days to get me very clean. one day I was taking generic Miralax -the second day I started on the doc prep 0- but I started that in the morning, not afternoon. I was already "cleaning up" and since liquids do not stay in the pouch - I could drink the whole gallon or prep in no time... and then some more.
my last colonoscopy - I really got clean.
That also taught me a very valuable lesson - Even when I think I am "clean"and have BM every day _ I may be getting constipated - slow build-up. I know that is the case when I get full just drinking liquids. If there is "stuff'in my bowels - the liquids simply don't have a place to go - so I feel full on just liquids. when I notice that - I start eating lightly for a few days (or just liquids) and see how soon things are moving.
you could be surprised how much our body can hold.. . Often if someone try to tell me I am full of **** - I can laugh...and tell them that "yeap, you are probably right"

Funny you should ask - I'm having one (routine) tomorrow (start Suprep at 5:00 pm today). I am drinking a LOT of chicken broth today!

Hmmmm....
I had one pre RNY as a diagnostics tool...
I know that they make you do a bowel prep Pico Salax an oral purgative. I am not sure what they would recommend post RNY? I imagine the same but sips and swallows VS chugging it back quickly... Followed by 2-3 litres of water...
I would ask if anything is done differently...
Congratulations on your half way success !
