here is the yogurt recipe. I found it easier to boil the milk on the stove in a large pot, not use the instant pot boil function. I use my carbmaster milk instead of regular. I ordered a milk nut bag from amazon for the straining.

I was just reading that "This Old Gal" site!  I think I can!! I do think boiling first will be easier for me too.  I might get the strainer she shows but I figure I will just try first to make regular, Greek next.

Where do I buy the 'starter'?  Is that a thing that they just sell at the regular grocery store?

Thanks!

Just buy a little cup of plain greek yogurt. I used the kroger brand- plus you don't use it all, just a little-

It will taste better if you strain it.

Thanks everyone for the awesome replies! I weigh most days, and will definitely weigh daily post-op.  When i first decided to have surgery, I actually emailed Dr. Freedhoff and he said that if he was SMO, he wouldn't hesitate to have it. He's pretty awesome.

I love the DZ- mainly because I know all you Americans are thinking DeeZee.  In Canada we say Zed instead of Zee.  When I was down there, I noticed that if I had to give my last name (and it's pronounced Days soI always spell it) when I said Zed I'd get these weird looks from the other person.  So I tried to remember to say Zee. :)

Well, good morning DZ and gang!

QOTD:  avoided most of my adult life until I was on the pre-op diet.  Then I obsessed because I had a number that, if I did not reach, I could not have surgery.  Now I weigh every day.  Qualify:  until the last week or two... my iron results came in very low after my stroke labwork.  I am on daily iron now and for the first time in my life I am so backed up.  Scale is UP 2 pounds and I cannot seem to budge it back down.  Makes me not want to get on the scale.

Also I am just past the 3-month mark, and it dawned on me the other day how difficult this regimen actually is.  I cannot seem to get the hang of the iron/dairy/liquid dance thing.  Have been taking my iron pill at 2 or 3 am because I forget and take calcium at odd hours, or have had dairy which is seriously like half of my diet.  I keep forgetting the calcium at midday, and my liquid intake sucks.  Combine that with family here, eating out while shopping, cookies and candy in the house, and I really feel like any routine I had going is lost.  Hoping for better next week.

B:  Fairlife with coffee, Oremier Protein caramel (got my PP prize pack!)

L:  greek yogurt

D:  roast chicken with veggies

S:  babybel cheese, pork rinds and Syntrax fuzzy navel (my savior lately)

Have a great Thursday!

Good morning.  Happy Thursday.  So glad the weekend is almost here, I'm tired!  So I'm having a super hungry day combined with a "my teeny, tiny stomach" hurts day.  Someone is going to have to talk me down.  I was eating my breakfast when one of the clerks asked if anyone wanted anything from the local deli.  Without thinking, I had her order bacon (What could be wrong with bacon, right?)  I was EATING my ham and egg breakfast at the time.  I didn't need bacon.  What am I going to do with a side of bacon???  Ugh.

QOTD:  I weight every morning, first thing, right after I wake up.  There was a three month period when I was forbidden from stepping on the scale at home . . . my brother actually came to the house and confiscated my scale.  It was very difficult for me.  I have my scale back now.  I still get depressed even if the number goes up by .2, which is crazy since I know that's most likely water . . . and that's why I was banned from weighing.  I'm trying to get to a healthy relationship between me and the scale, but it's very, very difficult.

My plan:

B: 2 oz ham, 1 egg, half a slice of cheese

S: Bacon, apparently

L: Chicken thigh meat and hummus

D: Tri Tip and Broccoli

S: Skinny latte, almonds after spin, maybe sliced deli turkey if I'm hungry before the gym

Totals: Cal: 867; Protein: 82g; Fat: 40g (bacon); Carbs: 33g

DZ, Nice job on this - We all have something to say for QOTD:

I avoided the scale like the plague pre-surgery:  I hated having to get on it at the Doctor's office.  I knew I had to change once I had my surgery, so I bought a Doctor's balance scale last year when starting my WLS journey.  Knowing myself, I only weighed once a month while losing as I knew that seeing my weight going u*****t changing would freak me out.  However, OH users convinced me that daily weighing was important in maintenance, so I now weigh daily.  It is REALLY helpful - I understand the ups and downs better and how to correct for a bad day.  I'm now obsessed with the scale so when I traveled and didn't have one it drove me crazy.

Today I am eating ESSENTIALLY NOTHING.  On clear liquids in preparation for a routine colonoscopy tomorrow.  I was never on just clear liquids before or after WLS, so this feels like cruel and unusual punishment.  And then in 2.5 hours I get to have the 1st half of the prep (yahoo!).

Have a good day all!
