What's on your Menu Today (Wednesday) RNYers?
on 12/21/16 3:40 am - GTA, Ontario, Canada
Good Morning Menu Pals! How is everyone? I am still tired and I have this brutal pain in my right shoulder. Its just muscle strain, too much snow shoveling, sitting at my desk wrong, carrying a heavy backpack with a laptop in it etc etc. Once the holidays are over I am going to get back at the gym as well as use my benefits to get monthly massages. The pain was so bad last night I could not hold a glass of water in my right hand because of the strain it put on my shoulder muscles. UGH getting old sucks LOL LOL but onward!
QOTD: What is your families Christmas Traditions, there are many on my side of the family & my husbands. My side of the family is Polish, Christmas Eve is a nice Polish dinner with pierogi, sauerkraut, pickled herring, dark rye bread, cabbage rolls and this special Oplatki, which is "Angel Bread" or for those of you who are Catholic of Christian its pretty much a palm size Eucharist that is shared among the family and you give each other blessing for the next year. Since my Grandmother (Babcia in Polish) passed we no longer do this and its actually something I miss a lot. I find it interesting as one generation passes a lot of traditions go with them, not sure why... On my husbands side of the family they used to have a massive Christmas party each year, it was the talk of the community, everyone wanted to go to their party! I have some of my husbands cousins who are in their 30s now come up to me and tell me how much they miss my husband's parents big Christmas party and this is from people who were 8 or 9 years old. So my MIL had this tradition that anyone who came to the party for the 1st time they had to "sign" her big dinning room tablecloth. You only signed once, on your first visit and then she would go over your signature in cross stitch. The parties no longer happen since my FIL passed away but my MIL still has the big tablecloth and last Christmas I took a pic of my "signature", see pic, its says "Daisy, and I always draw a flower beside my name and the date Dec 7th/2002". My husband and I are looking to start this tradition back up and I already have a table cloth ready and picked out that my Mom gave me that she no longer wanted!

Good morning everyone!
Daisy I hope you enjoy your break....and rest that achy shoulder!
Today is my psych eval....the final piece in the required puzzle before submitting everything to the insurance. I'm a little nervous about it, but then I always am when it comes to doctor's appointments. I keep reminding myself that I'm in a much better place mentally than I was when I got my band....plus I'm older and wiser haha. It's supposed to take about an hour, and I suspect I'll have to fill out lots of paperwork and answer a plethora of questions. I find myself wishing that I had done this the right way the first time, by which I mean before I got my band....I just didn't have any real idea of what WLS truly involved. Ah well, hindsight right?
Hubby and I got tickets to see Rogue One in a couple of days - do you think the theater would notice if I smuggled in some carrot sticks to munch on instead of popcorn?
QOTD: When I was growing up my grandparents used to have a 'First Day of Christmas' party each year. It was always the day after Thanksgiving and they would invite friends and family. It used to be at their home but as they got older and my grandmother couldn't handle all the cooking/organizing they moved it to a restaurant that would host it each year. We always did a gift exchange for the adults, and it's when us kids would get our Christmas presents....it was always thrilling because it was early! The tradition ended when my grandparents passed away, and I still miss it. The restaurant they had it at is now gone....time has not been kind to certain areas of Illinois. I don't know that we really have any solid traditions like that anymore.....my siblings and I are spread all over the map now, most of us have young kids which makes travel challenging but we try to see each other at least once a year and sometimes that manages to fall during the holidays
B: Unjury protein shake w/Fairlife Milk, Coffee
S: Premier Protein shake
L: Chicken soup w/veggies....maybe some zoodles if I'm motivated enough to make them and add them!
S: Greek Yogurt
D: TBD
Have a great day guys!

Good morning!
Fir some reason I thought you weren't here today so I got a big smile when I saw your post. I love your pic with your puppy.
I was running out the door this morning but managed to remember to grab 2 hard noil
ed eggs - breakfast and 2 mini meat pies- lunch - I will have to add something from the cafeteria. We haven't planned supper yet.
I mentioned on Sunday that we have a special Rudolph plate I bought when the kids were little and we always put out milk and cookies plus carrots for the reindeer. And I have to write a thank yo note from Santa. I always did that when the kids were little and thought I didn't have to last year. But they were disappointed. So this year there will be a note. But I'm going to try to make it funnier than when they were little.
We always have a big dinner with my family. I'm the main cook so it seems that even when we go to someone else's house, I still end up doing the cooking so I prefer they come to my house. I'm not a chef but u do like having my own pots and pans and utensils.
We usually go to my in laws for New Year's Day. And the menu is always Ham, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, dumplings and green peas. My mother in law grew up with that in PA and it's a family favourite. Funny thing though- Dh's cousin's wife is also my best friend and came with me yesterday. She was asking where to buy sauerkraut and if we ever eat it. I guess MILs sister didn't have the same favourite lol because Rosie said they never eat it.
So the big countdown is on. I start opti on Jan 5 and I have surgery Jan 12. The clinic I'm having surger at is much smaller than the one I have been going to- 3 surgeons. The dr I met yesterday will be doing my surgery and my post-op checkup but after that everything will go back to the original centre where Daisy had her surgery. I'm really pleased to only have 1 week of opti. Thanks for all the kind replies to my very excited post yesterday.
Have a a great day everyone.
RNY Jan 12, 2017 Lost 137 lbs but regained 60.
77 lbs lost and counting!
Losing the regain! I got this!
I was born in Eastern PA, and lived there till I was 9. The traditions were thick up there, and I still make Halushki for New Years Day (although, I think my family made it on Christmas Eve)... it's basically fried cabbage and homemade egg noodles. It's damn funny though, because my friends here love it, and we've started a new tradition here of making it then. Cabbage and sauerkraut were big in my family. I'm not a huge fan of sauerkraut, but I do eat it sometimes...
