What's on your Menu today (Tuesday) RNYers?
QOTD: I love JB's idea of food critic or travel writer. Those would be great jobs! I've also thought about being a financial planner - but not the kind that works on commission and sells people things - more like one who helps people set financial goals and figure out how to get there. I think I'd also be interested in being a dietitian or doing something with DNA research....or maybe an evolutionary biologist. But the last two would take years to prep for - I'd practically be dead before I was ready to start my career! Fun question, btw!
18 months out
B: Chobani pumpkin yogurt with 1 T Kashi Crunch granola
S: coffee with half & half, SF protein Miralax/mocha latte
L: 1 C turkey chili
D: either turkey meatballs with coleslaw made with sesame-miso vinaigrette, or Greek yogurt (I'm in one of those moods today where I just feel like yogurt or protein shakes.....)
may have another Greek yogurt or chai tea latte later (if I can afford the calories)

Sorry but the mere idea of working with numbers makes me feel ill, I hate math but good for you for wanting to help others set financial goals. Now Evolutionary Biologist is COOL, I would do that and you are right, way too much school for that!!!!
Morning everyone. I am still feeling rather glum over the heart news and the impending Christmas without any kids home isn't adding much joy. There is an evil bag of left over crackers in my kitchen that I can't throw away (it will be good for company this weekend) but I can't stop grazing on it. I think my mood is really the source of my 'hungry' feeling. Need to resist, drink more water, and buck up. On the bright side the scale is still at 125 so I haven't gone totally off the rails. Just feeling that old feeling of emotions controlling my behavior and I need to get a handle on that ASAP.
QOTD: My "if I win the mega millions" dream job is to work as a Crisis Counselor for the Red Cross. They send teams into disaster areas to help with the trauma. The work is incredible and makes a huge difference in long term PTSD rates but I can't afford to be flying off to disaster areas without a job in between right now. Some day...
Menu: B: Chobani Greek Simply 100 "Crunch", L: Cheese and some of the evil cracker stash (they are so damn good); D: No clue...once again the planning wagon train has been waylaid in a mud puddle. Going to the store tonight.
Hope you all have a wonderful day!

I got a call yesterday from the cardiologist's nurse about my echo last week. Turns out my heart function has declined significantly and it is an ish. Ejection fraction puts me into the heart failure range. No fun. Meeting with the doctor on the 30th to find out what the plan is. Might just be new/different meds for now or it might be a pace maker or internal defibrillator. Whee. :(
I am not a happy camper. I really was hoping for great improvement since I lost weight. Nurse reminded me that my heart issues are genetic and not weight related.

Well that stinks!!!
I'm so sorry. The thing you have to keep in mind, unlike your mom (and possibly your brother), YOU are getting care preemptively, they are aware of what's going on, and have the means to keep that ticker ticking for years to come! (I have an aunt... yes
I'll be sending up positive thoughts, swinging chickens, and prayers too!

So incredibly sorry to hear this news. After seeing this post, I read about "ejection fraction." I wish you a good plan with your doctor, and I will hope for your doctor to have his or her best insight into your needs, even insight beyond his/her normal expertise.
