Congratulations on the loss this week! Nice to hear that taking strong measures works when needed!

QOTD: I had Christmas Eve traditions as a child that I carried forward with my children, and we developed new ones with them.  We always allowed each child to open one gift on Christmas Eve (from my childhood tradition).  The traditions that we developed with our own family (and followed for 20 years) were having Christmas Eve dinner with local friends, having brunch with my mother on Christmas morning and hosting the remainder of the family for Christmas dinner.  All changed when we moved 2 years ago, so we are still figuring it out. I expect it will be a while until we do as our children's lives are changing (they are in their late 20's and older).  This year DD is spending Christmas Eve (dinner and overnight) here with her boyfriend and 4 children (we like them all), so it will be nice to have kids around again.

B: eggbeater, cottage cheese, roasted peppers/chilis

L: tuna, cottage cheese, pickles

D: May go to a football game buffet.  Hard to get my money's worth, but we know the chef so he may sneak some leftovers out for me.  Supposed to have turkey pot pie (I'd eat the insides if I have it), chili, burgers, salad...

Enjoy your Sunday!

Glad to hear the DIY stuff and the weight is going well,JB. Growing up we opened one present Christmas eve, usually new pajamas too. Our big meal was Christmas day and other presents were opened then. Tradition now is the big meal is Christmas eve at the in laws and presents are opened then. Christmas day itself we sit and chat with family and have leftover turkey or ham and beans and cornbread. Recently hubby and I try to find a midnight church service not at my church so I can go and sit and enjoy. Two of my past pastors are in the area and we usually go to one or the other of their churches. I enjoy the chance to really sit and sing and not have to worry about being ready to play the piano. I especially enjoy communion then because when you are the pianist communion is one thing that is always rushed. Post op 4 years 4 months and weight at 117 today. Bitter cold today and icy so church is cancelled and walking will be on the treadmill. I will do 3.2 miles at some point today though. Here's  the food B 1/2 c steel cut oats with protein and peanut butter added L 1 c ham and beans D 31/2 oz smoked  sausage 1/2 c sweet potatoes and onions  (end of the leftovers) S P3 Pak. Have a great day everyone and make some amazing choices! Stay warm and safe everyone.

I knew you were active in your church but I didn't realize you were the pianist. My daughter took piano for 4.5 years. She stopped  this year and rarely plays now. :( She is really busy with school so I'm going to hope that she gets back at it.

I took lessons from second grade til I graduated from high school. Then I stopped playing and didn't even own a piano. Nineteen years ago our church had a couple as pastors and they retired. The wife had played piano and or organ every Sunday and there was no pianist. I volunteered and have been doing it ever since. No time off except when I  had foot surgery and when we travel. Trying to get them used  to the idea that I intend to travel  even more this year and they need to figure something out. So you never know, like me she may come back to it someday.

Good morning!

I got a late start this morning so your post seems quite early to me!  Hubby and I were up late last night because we went to a Christmas party....it was lots of fun.  The party was kind of split into two factions - upstairs was the quiet movie watching/conversation having party, and downstairs was the video game/pool playing/louder conversation having party.   I spent most of my time downstairs, party because video games are something I enjoy and party because that's where most of our friends were.  We played Rock Band and took turns singing until we were booed off the stage, it was lots of fun.   Of course late night means I'm dragging this morning....I can't stay up late like that anymore without paying the price the next morning!

This week I'm going to focus on sticking to protein protein protein, and working on tracking everything....it's a busy week ahead.  My son turns 5 tomorrow, and I've got a plethora of appointments (including my psych eval!) before he goes on Christmas break.

QOTD:  In our family we've always opened one gift on Christmas Eve - and it's always pajamas.  Everyone gets a new set to sleep in, it's something my mom started when we were little.  Our pajamas are under the tree waiting, and since my MIL is spending the night on Christmas Eve I made sure to put a pair under there for her as well.

B: Protein shake

S: Greek Yogurt

L: Eggs with diced ham

S: Hardboiled Egg

D: Chili - which I'll need to make in a little while :)

Have a great Sunday all!

I kinda hate traditions. I always feel people are so stubborn to change things. At least in my family.

Hi JB & my fellow pouch pals. It's a sad morning here, the Bishop passed last night. I don't attend my hubbys church any more- but was there for years. I'm trying to be there for my hubby and help any way I can-- but I think hubby still keeps things to himself since I'd made the decision his church wasn't for me. I feel that I'm treated as if I'm 'shunned' for that decision.  Men compartmentalize way to literally.

Qotd: we would let the kids open one present of our choosing on Christmas Eve- usually it was there Christmas pajamas or a book. Both have decided they are mature enough to wait for Christmas Day. (We'll see if that holds try come Saturday:-) other than that we're usually still scrambling at stores to do anything grandly festive.

192.6 today, 19 months out

m1: 2 scrambles eggs; ham/bologna 3oz

m2: Greek yogurt, berries, granola

m3: grilled BBQ chicken bites

m4: ?? Chicken has been out of the rotation for a while...

Just yesterday we decided we would do a Secret Santa for just the 5 of us on Christmas Eve and I think it will be a new tradition for us.  Except the secret part didn't work out so well. Kind of easy to figure out who has who. It's a small limit - only $10 - and it can't be a gift card.

Good morning everyone.

Good luck with your renovations today, it would be great to have that entire to do list completed before Christmas. We had some freezing rain last night and now it's snowing on top of the existing 10" of snow so I'll be staying inside today and working through my Christmas to do list with hopes of completing a couple projects and most, if not all, of the wrapping.

QOTD On Christmas Eve we always visit my aunt (my moms sister), a tradition that started when we were kids. Way back then she was a single mom without a vehicle and it was just easier for us to go there. We loved it. She would always arrange a visit from Santa and we have some great memories and pictures from those years. 30+ years later and we still carry on that tradition...although Santa hasn't shown up in a years. After that we go back to my Moms house to spend the night and wake up at a ridiculous time in the morning, usually around 5. My Dad passed away in Jan 2009 and in some ways that has made Christmas Eve as a family even more important. When it comes to our traditions, especially surrounding the holidays, we don't like change and continuing them feels like a tribute to both of our parents for giving us such a great childhood and so much love throughout of lives. We don't do any gifts until Christmas morning and once we're back at Moms we have our warm beverage of choice and watch the 1951 version of A Christmas Carol. As far as Mom is concerned Alastair Sim is Scrooge and she won't have it any other way!

B protein shake

L tuna, laughing cow cheese

D chicken

Have a great Sunday everyone!!

Good Morning. Ok it's really closer to noon for me. Growing up as a child we were allowed to open one gift each that my parents picked. They usually made a point for it to be board games so we would all play board games until bedtime. No doubt to give them time alone to finish wrapping. But for my own children our tradition was to allow the children to open the gifts they picked out and wrapped for each other. They always got so excited to watch their sibling open something they put so much time into picking!

B: coffee possibly eggs (still have not eaten yet)

L: chopped steak is sounding good today

D: chicken soup hubby made last night as a surprise
