What's on your Saturday menu, RNYers?
on 12/17/16 3:31 am
Hi all! I know I've said for the last 3 weekends in a row that this is the last weekend of home renovations, but maybe it's true this time? We took a break last night and saw the new Star Wars movie, Rogue One. I even got my pic taken with a Storm Trooper :) It was good. I'm not a super fan of the genre, but I liked it... But the best part of the movie to me was that I finally found the strength to say no to popcorn and candy! I did not even have a bite.
QOTD: Have you learned any interesting new facts lately? I love when I have time to read the Reddit thread: Today I Learned. Lots of cool stuff there! I recently read an article in The NY Times about a "hydration index". Some liquids keep you hydrated longer, and milk is actually better than water. Huh! Here is the link to the article. Hydration Index So tell me something new and interesting you've learned, lately!
I'm sticking with just cheese and meat today. The scale is happy with my choice and so am I!
B: coffee and bacon
S: cheese stick and Chomps meat stick from Trader Joe's
L: Turkey meatballs
D: meat...tbd!
Hope you all have a great day!

Morning weekend crew!
well, I did it. All my gift buying is complete ahead of the snow storm. When I decided to power through all day, I forgot I had agreed to go to two Holiday events last night as well. One was with a friend who invited me to attend a vegan holiday cooking demo. it was a bit of a bust, but I'm glad I went. Then, my husband's cousins have an annual get together. This year was at a pub, which did not have wls friendly optionsworth eating. All that to say, I didn't eat much at all yesterday, and hydration sucked. I'd like to reach my 100lbs down by new year, which is totally doable, but not if I can't get a handle getting my water and protein in, on busy days!
i missed most of yesterday's thread, because I was out late, so I'm going to catch up now!
Qotd: what popped into my mind, was an interview I heard yesterday with a physician/researcher who studies slips and falls injuries. They did a review of winter boots and their grippiness to ice. They came up with a 3snowflake rating system, and of all the 100plus boots they tested, only nine received 1 snowflake! Other than most boots being crap, the other thing he said was, like snow tires, the grippiness is determined by the material in the sole, and has nothing to do with the tread. So people who buy boots based on an aggressive tread, are wasting their time. I haven't looked up the list yet, but he said you want to look for boots with a sandpaper texture on the sole, which makes sense, or a type with almost felt like material, I don't understand that one though.
Menu:
B: Protein shake
L: some of a beef burrito bowl
D: either beef stew, or some kind of seafood/fish stew. Going to look at finding/ building a wls friendly recipe next. If anyone has suggestions, send them my way!
have a great Saturday everyone!

100 lbs in less than 4 months is pretty impressive! Even what you've lost already is really amazing! I keep wondering how long it will take me to lose my weight. I want to lose about 150 lbs I think- even though the clinic said not to expect that much. We have a big event in June which will be about 5 months after surgery. And I will see lots of people I don't see all the time. I'd really like to be halfway to goal by then. And if I could be at goal by Christmas next year, that would be so amazing.
RNY Jan 12, 2017 Lost 137 lbs but regained 60.
77 lbs lost and counting!
Losing the regain! I got this!
Oops also JB, I sorta skipped anything you said about the movie just in case of unintentional spoilers haha! I'm super pumped to see it, but we won't be able to until we get to my inlaws in Quebec City on the 27. So I'm in a Star Wars embargo. Hope you liked it!

Good morning!! Today is the first day of my Christmas break. My daughter and I are up early getting ready to go participate in "Wreaths Across America" with my Key Club kids. I am so proud that my kids are willing to give up their first day of break to help the community. I teach in a Title I school. My kids get a bad wrap (people think we are thugs and ********ers) and that ****** me off. We have great kids at my school.
QOTD: No new learning here. I think my brain is fried.
Eating is still meh. I am still at my goal weight, but find myself slipping with all the treats everywhere. I may start going to Weigh****chers again to get through the next month. Getting weighed by someone else works for me. Plus since I am a lifetime WW member at goal, it's free.
Today's high will be 80 and tonight it drops to 36. Winter in Houston is always fun!!
Happy Saturday, everyone!!

How neat that your kids are helping with Wreaths Across America. When hubby and I traveled a few weeks ago we went to several battlefields and national cemeteries so I had heard of this project. Tell them thanks please as I have many family members who were military. What a giving way to start their vacation.
Thanks. We had an amazing time and were so humbled by the experience. This was the first year that there were enough wreaths donated to put on all 70,000 graves. Here is my daughter placing a wreath
