Questions about vitamins & pain management
Good morning everyone !
I am venturing out today to scoop up my vitamins.
I know that there are great options for vitamins in the
USA. What would you recommend that has worked for you?
When did you start taking them?
Did you crush them? Did you tolerate them?
I am headed to Whole Foods which is an American based company. Hoping to find one that works for me.
With regards to medication did you purchase liquid Tylenol?
or did you cru**** With regards to Narcotics.
I am hoping that I won't need to use them.
I recently had ankle surgery and only took Dilaudid for a couple of days.
I had difficulty with nausea, so I used Tylenol/Advil combo instead. Given taking NSAIDS is prohibited after RNY.
Not sure what to do for pain management.
Hoping to hear your thoughts and suggestions.

IN THE END WE ONLY REGRET CHANCES WE DIDN'T TAKE.
I ordered Bariatric Advantage (chewable) vitamins online. My surgeons office also sells them. I came home with RX for two narcotics, but I only took them a couple of times at night. I did purchase Liquid Tylenol for a headache and it seemed to work just as well as the narcotics did.
I started taking my vitamins the day I came home from the hospital. 18 days since RNY, and I'm not having any trouble. I actually take two small iron tablets a day. My surgeon recommends not taking any pills that are bigger than an M&M. Hope this helps!

My surgeon says pills are fine! Some of my stuff is soft. I take 2 Flintstone's Complete chewable each day. NO Nsaids but Tylenol is fine. For serious pain your doctor can prescribe you something stronger.
I take vitamin D once a week. B12 once a week. Calcium 3X a day (Calcium Citrate Chewy Bites)
My doctor also put me on Prilosec and stuff to avoid gall stones (first 3 months).
Check your doctors list before stocking up on anything! You probably won't take vitamins the first week or two.
Not American but, I eat two adult chewable multi vits in the am. They I eat 2 chewable calcium with D 3 times a day. In there I also eat my biotin, vit B 12 and Vit D (I was very low D before surgery)
My centre says to go to regular pills vs chewables at 6 weeks.

So far 80 pounds lost!
Replying before I read all the responses... but: Tylenol is HORRIBLE crushed! I only needed it for two weeks but definitely get the liquid version of it! Our Walgreens sells it, but it was pretty hard to find.
I bought the Opurity chewables and hated them. My weight loss center recommended Nature Made, which is pretty cheap and most everywhere in the US. I use the Bariatric Advantage calcium chews, but you can get much cheaper ones, just make sure they are calcium citrate. I went overboard on vitamins pre-surgery and have a lot of unused vitamins now.

I am also using the unjury brand. I don't mind the chewable multi, B, or the D, but I cannot gag down those calcium citrate. They are so tart!
I'm using the Bariactiv vitamins along with the Nascobal B12 (goes up my nose once a week....freaked me out at first but now it's no big deal). Each month I'm sent chewable Calcium + D3, Iron + Vitamin C, Multivitamin, and B12 - and my insurance is actually covering it which is all sorts of awesome.
Taste-wise they're ok, The calcium is the berry flavored and hardest for me because it's so chalky, so it's my least favorite. The Iron + Vitamin C tastes like oranges and is delicious and the multivitamin is kind of like a berry banana flavor.
How did your trip to Whole foods turn out, did you find anything good?

Some of the hospital pharmacies sell Bariatric Advantage multivitamins (chewable) and the chewable calcium citrate with D3. I know St. Joseph's in Hamilton does and I think some of the Toronto Centres do as well. I have never found liquid Tylenol here unless is was for children. I was prescribed Oxi after my surgery and I never finished them. I kept them just in case I needed them for some really bad pain.
