Good FROZEN morning from Canada!  Its -12C (10F) with the windchill feels like -21C (-6F), not sure if my hands and feet will ever thaw today! We made it to Thursday my friends!  One day to the weekend!! Operation no Christmas Cookies/treats was successful yet again, yesterday I did not eat one thing off plan WIN!  I am down another pound, yesterday I was 128.6 today I am 127.6 YES! Although full disclosure... I got some bad news at work yesterday and it really stressed me out, when I am stressed I lose my appetite so I didn't eat breakfast or lunch, I only had half my dinner and 2 babybels so I didn't really eat yesterday due to the stress. Still feeling stressed and not looking forward to walking into work today... I so need my vacation to start!

QOTD: When you retire what are your plans?  Will you stay in your current home? Will you buy a vacation home somewhere exotic?  Will you find a second job in a totally different field?  Will you just sleep in and enjoy life after working 25+ years?  And if you are already retired what do yo do with your time?  I am 45 yrs old, so not anywhere near retirement but here in Canada I can get a full pension at 65 yrs old from my work. I have no idea if I will work past 65 or not, my gut tells me no, if anything I want to go earlier! Hubby and I have tossed around the idea of getting a condo in Florida for a while, it may or may not happen, if our dollar gets to par again with the US dollar I think we might do it. But the other thing we talked about is buying a house with a lot of property and having a dog boarding business when we retire. Where we currently board our dogs when we go away is this older (75 & 72 yrs old couple) who have this 10 acre property, 2 acres is fenced for the dogs and he is a retired Pilot and she is a retired Mayor of her town and they dog board for fun and a little bit of cash on the side. They have four Labs, all of which are related to my two Labs and they are the sweetest, funniest couple I know, we have become friends with them as well and often go over for dinner and doggie play time.  Oh and when I retire there will be a lot of sleeping in and extra coffee drinking LOL

Time since surgery: 3 years + 1 month

B: vanilla greek yogurt, raspberries & 1 tbsp of bran buds

L: can of solid white tuna with 1/2 bell pepper and balsamic dressing

S: 2 babybel & 1/3 cup dry roasted peanuts

D: 4oz rotisseries chicken with A1 sauce and 1/2 cup of steamed zucchini with lots of butter

S: fresh raspberries & SF cool whip, 2 babybel before bed

TOTALS: 807 calories, 90 protein, 35 carbs

V: patches are on!

L: coffee all day & water with SF cran all day

E: as soon as I get home, hike the dogs in the deep snow, it snowed yesterday & last night and is supposed to snow all day today as well. And I will be in a gazillion layers because its crazy cold out.  Errands to run tonight, maybe the Mall will be quiet because its too damn cold to be out LOL

This will be me this afternoon when I get home on my hike with the dogs + a few more layers probably. This is Randy the little brother from "A Christmas Story" LOL LOL

So sorry about your work stress Daisy.

It is so cold. I take the bus and go train to work so I think I already look like your pic. Stupid jeans wouldn't do up all the way because I have leggings underneath and they were already a bit tight. I am not buying new jeans. Plus being SMO, and dressing in layers really sucks. Ok enough venting. I'm embracing winter!!

I'm really hoping I hear from Guelph today. They confirmed they got my file yesterday. I probably shouldn't have called. But seriously I just want to see some forward movement in this process.

I have no no idea what I'm eating today. We had our bible study group stay last night and it was another late night.

QOTD: We haven't given much thought to retirement. We have 3 kids and I think my plans depend on where they end up. I really want to be able to spend as much time with them as I can. Of course they could end up in 3 different parts of the world. Every time the politicians start talking about the Turks and Caicos joining Canada I think that would be a great place to retire. Florida sounds good too. But my husband likes winter so I know he won't want to spend the whole winter in the south. Whenever I think of retirement I think about grandkids and helping my kids out with them as much as we can as as much as they want us to. But we don't know what the future holds so we will figure it out as we go.

Lucky you to not eat when stressed (I've always been the opposite so am trying to change as stress seems inevitable).  It is super windy here today, so feels really cold (Cape Cod MA).

QOTD:  Funny you should ask: 5 years ago DH and I were taking about traveling to a different warm location each year and staying for 2-3 months (different areas of the US, different countries).  Fast forward, and DH has early Alzheimer's (had to retire 2.5 years ago).  I am now planning to retire at the end of next year, and we are buying a condo in Florida for winter stays (closing on it on February 6). DH doesn't do well with change so we are hoping that having a familiar place to go to each year will work (at least for a few years).  We are buying in a park where our friends have a place and we have visited many times over the last 10 years, so the area is familiar (and the friend support is helpful).  My SIL (and best friend) will also be spending the winters with us, and they (DH and SIL) have cousins who live nearby as well.  So I get warmth and the beach (my favorite thing), and DH gets familiarity and support.  Hopefully it works for a while...

B: usual eggbeaters, cottage cheese and roasted peppers/chilis

L: tuna and pickles

D: Going to $5 burger night at a local place, so I will get a burger (no bun) and vegetables and have at least one leftover meal

S: possibly Quest chips, jerky, cheese!

Have a great day!

I'm sorry to hear about your husband's diagnosis. I think you have a great plan in place. Friends of ours made a similar decision as you. They set up a calendar and friends and family all join them for a week or couple of weeks, ensuring she has continuous support. They've been able to maintain that for a number of years!

I'm sorry to hear about your husband Liz. Your plan sounds amazing and sounds like you can both have what you want and need for a while. It always makes me sad when people have to retire for health reasons and then can't enjoy it. Praying for strength and support for you and hubby both.

That stinks about your hubby. It's one of my real fears about getting older. My paternal grandmother had Alzheimers when she died. My father's brothers is now afflicted... I have always felt like it's going to be 'me' out of all of my cousins. Yet, I'm not ready to have the test to find out. I'll wait a few more years. Hopefully since you know about your hubby, the early intervention will help? I know they are making huge strides in Alzheimer's research, and things are moving forward all of the time. Maybe they'll be able to keep him in a good place for many more years.

Where in Florida are  ya'll buying? My dad is in Naples, so we visit down there as much as we can.

We are buying in Port Charlotte, to be near our friends (Port Charlotte, same development) and cousins (in Northport).  I think it is about the same distance north of Fort Myers as Naples is south of there.

Though we are going to Mass General, the neurologists haven't suggested much except put him on Aricept a couple of years ago and told him to stay physically active as much as possible.  He is being assigned a new neurologist in April who is supposed to be more tied in with research.  We just looked into a Biogen clinical trial, but my husband is too far along to be eligible.

Aw Liz, I'm so sory about that. A very close friend of mine is going through this with her husband.  His seems to be somewhat agressive though as he appears to be regressing quickly. They are in their early 50s so it's hard to see.

So glad that you have a plan in place, and I wish you both all the best.
