Bladder Spasms
Hi! I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced bladder spasms. I have had one bladder infection since surgery (surg on Sept 26, 2016) and since then I've been back to the dr twice thinking I have another and don't. These spasms are so bad, they shoot around my bladder and down into my urethra. Several years ago I had a urethra sling in order to stop leakage so I'm wondering if now that I have lost weight it is too tight??? I have an appointment with Urology on 12/28, but I was wondering if it is anything anyone else has had happen. This week my pcp did put me on a med for the spasms. Oh, and I've had a CT scan of my abdomen, everything looks great... no stones anywhere.

are you drinking 64+ oz of liquid a day? Concentrated urine can cause pains like this
I've had some bladder pain/burning but do not have a urinary tract infection. This started over a year ago. The Urologist told me the lining of my bladder was irritated and I could control it with avoiding any acid foods/beverages.
He prescribed Vesicare 5mg twice a day. I also buy (from Amazon) Prelief - its for bladder symptoms caused by food and it neutrilizes the acidic urine. I take 2 before I drink any tea or chocolate protein drink or anything that might be higher in acid levels.
Many foods contain acid. Coffee and tea (even decaf) are high in acid, plus any tomato, citrus products, and wine.
Maybe "google" foods high in acid and cut those out.
It took about 3 months to calm my bladder spasm pain/burning. I continue to take the above meds daily.
Hope you can get this figured out - I was miserable. (I've also had a mesh bladder suspension - about 3 years ago.

Well that gives me hope... really don't want another surgery that's for sure. It's odd because some days are better than others. Yesterday was a good day, so I'm going to google the foods I've had lately and see what all is high in acid. Thank you, Penny for your reply, you have been so helpful!
