So WEAK post op!
I am 10 days post-op and supposed to go back to work Monday (two weeks off work). I have no energy. Taking a shower is like running a marathon. Blending a shake is like walking a mile. Am I alone in this? Following post op diet 100%.
MsKitty...
You are not alone. I was scheduled to take two weeks off work and ended up taking three, then could not make it a full week... and I have pretty much a desk job. After surgery you are seriously short of calories and I think it can take your body a while to get used to it. Some people recover more quickly. It just depends on the person. Get plenty of fluids. Try to get your protein intake to 60 grams a day. Get plenty of rest. And be gentle with yourself. You had a major surgery, as all the vets will tell you.
I am just over three months post-op and still get tired. Eventually they will test you and make sure your iron, vitamin levels etc are at the right place. For now just make sure liquids and protein are as high as you can get them but aim for 8 cups of liquid and 60 grams of protein.
This is the beginning of a wild but rewarding ride! Congratulations!
Hello Cheryl, glad you are doing so good. My weight loss is the same as you - it is crazy we are so close to 60 lbs its unreal! I feel myself a bit shaky at times, meat does not agree with me so I'm trying other forms of protein/vegan. Not easy but I would not change anything - it is the best decision I ever made. Keep posting.
You too! Always so good to hear from you. Meat is also wey hard for me. Chicken every now and then, steak is good. Other than that, dairy is my friend ;). I am losing slowly but steadily. Averages about two pounds a week. I have no complaints. Never have I done anything that works this consistently. I am starting to be able to shop in regular stores... we were at Costco yesterday and I got clothes there, not even the largest size! No more plus size stores for me. I love love love being normal!

I remember feeling the same way. I think it is because we were asking our body's to run on basically on it's fat source! The amount of calories you can get into your body that early out does little to give you energy. Sorry you have to go back to work so soon after surgery! Protein and fluids are your best friends right now. And nap as much as your body wants while you are still home.
I was weak and tired for a while. I took three weeks off completely, and then did light work for 1-2 months which I realize not everyone can do.
Actually, being tired was one of the main reasons I had surgery. All the doctors would say, lose weight and you will feel better. Physically I feel great now, but I'm just as tired as I was before. All my labs are perfect, so I basically just live with it now.

I went back after taking a week off. That first week back was really, really, tough. Regretfully, I didn't have much of a choice on going back to work, our yearly Directors meeting was right after my surgery. I remember feeling like my legs were made of lead at the end of the day. The good thing is I managed to get through it and my energy levels are much better now. Everyone heals differently so don't compare, just listen to your body and what it is telling you.

I'm exactly two weeks out and am still very tired too. I did find that getting out of the house just a little made me have a little more energy. I did a little Christmas shopping today and am completely wiped out. It seems to vary by person.

Are you getting in the bare minimum of protein? If so try getting more. I really started to feel better (more energy) when I started getting 80-100 a day. Also drink tha****er (not saying you aren't, but my centre says that even mild dehydration can cause tiredness)
I went back at 2 weeks. Luckily I was fine. I crashed hard at night but I was ok for the work day. Hang in there I am sure it will get better!
