I'm so excited!!
Hello all. I have been trolling this site for a little over a week. It has been very informative. I just found out today that I am almost finished jumping through all of the hoops that my insurance company requires to pay for my surgery. I have 1 more doctor visit / weigh-in on January 10th and then the paperwork gets sent to the insurance company so they can approve it. I am really hoping to have my surgery at the end of January. I can hardly wait, I am so ready for this.

That's awesome! I'm self-pay but I still have all the appointments and such to be done before meeting with the surgeon again. Half down, more to come over the next 3 weeks.
I've got 2 doxies myself -- Skits & Jack. They are such ridiculous little creatures, I love them to death! If we could only cure the stubborn barking problem...
Mine are both mini dachshunds, they are very protective of me and both bark a lot... my smallest one was born blind, the breeder was going to put her to sleep and it broke my heart so she gave her to me. You would never know that she is blind. It didn't take her long to figure out the layout of my house and she runs around just like my older one. No one that comes to my house even realizes that she is blind. They are my only " children" and are very spoiled...lol.

Hi,
I also have just started reading through the forums and learning as much as I can. I just went to my first appointment 12/9 and I have my nutrition appointment next week, and my metabolic test and psych eval on 1/16. My insurance luckily does not require a supervised diet or a certain length of time before surgery. So I am hoping on February or March but I am still waiting on my endoscopy to be scheduled. Glad there are others out there that will be going through this at about the same time! Also glad for you veterans that are willing to share your experiences!

Congratulation! It is a wild and exciting journey! I have a mini-dachshund, Lucy. Love of my life now that my daughter is off to college. Lucy is very bad in the barking department, but very cute ;).
Take time now to start to get your good habits in place - no drinking 30 minutes after meals, get plenty of liquids, and chew thoroughly! I am three months post-op and still having trouble there.
It's a wild ride! Like you I'm in that home stretch before everything gets submitted to the insurance company. I had thought we were all good but it turns out that revisions need psych evals too so I've got that scheduled for next week. Fingers crossed I can have my surgery around the same time as yours
