Tomorrow's the BIG day

Hi Sandra,
I did 2 weeks of Opti. I had Medical Mart give me half chocolate Opti and half Vanilla Opti. I preferred the Chocolate. But the Vanilla was good. I used Raspberry Crystal light in my chocolate shakes and had a chocolate raspberry flavour and I found Orange Extract in the baking isle at my local grocery store and added a few drops in to the Vanilla for a "Orange creamsicle" type flavour. Opti is hard no doubt about it, especially the first 5 days I think. But get past those and you are fine. Also at my Centre they allowed broth and sugar free popsicles. On Christmas day make yourself some broth, throw some spices in there like tyme and think of it as your version of "stuffing" flavoured broth. Temptation will be everywhere but you can do this and 3 weeks will fly by!
Stick around and keep us posted on how you are doing.
Best of luck!

Hi Mahalo!
You're going to do great! I'm seven weeks past RNY and wishing I did it years ago! Let me share a few things as a newby:
Follow the rules before and after and you'll be great. Get your fluids and protein. Learn how to cook (a little later) the RNY way. I've already converted many good recipes that I can share.
Realize that you're probably not going to be hungry so it's not really not that hard after the surgery. Even when you're eating without chopping and mushing everything. You will have more energy. Use it and get moving!
People keep apologizing for eating near me (including my wife). OK world, I'm not hungry and if I ate what you're eating I'd throw up all over you. IT's OK!
If I'm feeling that emotional late night eating (much less now) I have a pre-made sugar free jello cup.
Don't be afraid to buy high end foods (what you should be eating). If you spend more it will still cost you far less! Enjoy!!
You are about to change your life in a big, huge, positive way! Embrace it!!!
WOW Congratulations!
Thank you for your your kind words of wisdom.
This this will be a difficult journey and it will
require a lot of hard work.
The next 21 days will fly by.
I have am ready!
One day at a time and one foot in front of the other!
Sincerely
Sandra

IN THE END WE ONLY REGRET CHANCES WE DIDN'T TAKE.
Wow! I had originally only had to do 2 weeks of a liquid diet but it ended up being 3 weeks too when my blood work came back and my WBC was really high. You are awesome going in with a "can do" attitude. The others are right. After the surgery you most likely wont be hungry anyway. Some are, most aren't. Its those first 3-4 days that are the killer. Everyone on here telling you to come back on here and read up is right. Let others be your support. Its easy to falter. We are human. But we are all behind you. You got this.
