What's on Your Sunday Menu, RNYers?
on 12/11/16 4:19 am, edited 12/11/16 4:24 am
Good morning everyone! I hope you are all ready for an awesome Sunday!
I am sitting here in the total darkness, because just as I was going to make coffee this morning, the electricity in the condo building went out. It came back on, long enough for me to brew the Keurig, then back out again. At least I have coffee! Maybe it's the wind? It's been awfully cold and windy here since Friday. Grim (who is actually built like a furnace and always hot) even admits today is "coat weather". This is the first time I have heard him admit that, so I am not eager to go outside myself! **edit--lights are on! Let day 3 of home renos begin!
QOTD: Let's talk bad habits. Ok, I already know about the bad habits that got you to this forum, but do you have any others? Or new ones that have developed, post-op? I have lots that are probably worse than these (you don't need to chime in, Grim!) but here are two: 1.) I am terrible about drinking enough fluids on the weekend. On work days I have enough routines that I am used to sipping all day and easily get 64oz. But after my coffee on weekends, I am lucky to get in another 16ox of anything during the day. Stupid, right? 2.) I swear it's not my fault, but my shoes just seem to multiply and move themselves all over the house! I am apt to fine 6 to 10 pairs of shoes out and scattered around the house at any given time.
Yesterday was not my best eating day. We had a surprise nice dinner out with my friend and her parents which was so nice! We went to a cute farm-to-table brewery in town, My eyes fell on the menu to the "Fig, Goat Cheese and Prosciutto Grilled Cheese" and I didn't even look at the rest. I ate ½ with about 10 kettle chips. Holy bananas, it was the best meal ever. #noregrets
Here is my best guess for today:
B: Coffee & Greek Yogurt
S: Deli Chicken and Swiss Cheese Roll Ups
L: ½ of Fig, Goat Cheese and Prosciutto Grilled Cheese
S: 2 Turkey meatballs (plain)
D: ?? mmm, maybe I can convince someone to make us steak?

Good Morning JB and Menu Friends!
I'm glad you have lights again, Julia. It's no fun having the power go out.
QOTD: My worst habit is I am a packrat. My house is very cluttered and I've been known to go out and buy something that I know I have one of but just can't find it. I also LOVE a bargain! My latest obsession is our hometown's dollar auction. I've been bidding on and buying all kinds of presents for my daughter on the dollar auction and I've gotten some amazing bargains! I got a beautiful, hand-made, quilted Christmas tree skirt for only $1. I got SEVEN tops in my daughter's size for only $1. I got a digital photo frame for $8 and a beautiful curio cabinet for $29, etc. Hillary (Super Shopper) would be very proud of me! Unfortunately I've gotten kind of obsessed with the dollar auction and maybe carried away with buying Christmas presents for my daughter this year. (I have 80+ presents for her to open!) #Overkill!
B: Crepe w/ peaches, cream cheese, cool whip
L: Lettuce, spinach, h.b. eggs, bacon, cheese, low cal dressing
D: Taco meat lettuce, cheese & 1/2 tortilla shell
S: Light n Fit Greek yogurt
S: Roast beef roll-ups with cream cheese
Exercise: Walking the dogs or if too cold, riding exercise bike
Have a great Sunday everyone!

Morning!
qotd: yeesh, where to start... I also struggle with getting fluids on the weekend. Actually I often struggle to eat enough anything on weekends. Never in my life did I ever think I'd get to the point where I'd forget to eat lunch...Another one is getting my last round of calcium pills. I finally added a reminder to my phone, so that should fix it though... And if you ask my husband, apparently I leave the lights on, in every room, all the time...actually if you were to ask him, I think this list would be quite long...
Menu
B: protein shake and decaf coffee with baileys creamer
L: chicken breast I have yet to cook
D: an ounce or two of pork ribs
S: Skyr with bran buds

Good morning everyone! Didn't wake up to the 10 inches of snow we were suppose to have so that is a god thing! But it isn't done yet so... Sorry to hear your power is on/off on such a cold day! Day's like that I miss our old wood burning stove. We have a fireplace but in the couple of years we have lived in this house we have yet to use it.
QOTD: Hate to say this but probably one of the worse habit's I developed a couple of years after my surgery is my addiction to diet soda! I know, I know! But I tell myself it is a calorie free drink so it meets half the requirements. I always struggled with getting in fluids before so I turned to this. Something I need to work on.
B: eggs and sausage
L: swiss burger
D: right now thinking chicken strips with steamed broccoli
Good morning,
QOTD I started to binge eat on sweets. Didnt have this problem before surgery. Im working on it. I live by myself so no one is bringing it in but myself. I get to the store and everything is drawn to me. My Dr answer was just dont buy it or have someone else do your shopping which is not possible. If anyone has any suggestions i be happy to hear.
B egg whites ham and cheese omelet and string cheese
L having a potluck at church, i know were having ham
D cottage cheese, baby carrots and red pepper
S Greek yogurt, turkey sausage snack sticks and cutie orange
Have a great day
I don't know if it's feasible for you, but I now do 90% of my grocery shopping at a place called produce depot. All they sell is fruit, veg, dairy, meat and fish. Tiny bread section and no real junk food to speak of.
There might be something equivalent in your area.
Another option worth exploring if it exists in your area would be online shopping. The big box grocery stores here have a system where you place your order online, then go pick it up. There's a small service fee, but it would be offset if that means extra items aren't sneaking into your cart.
But I hear ya, I went to a grocery super store on Friday for the first time in ages, and I was mesmerized by the fact there was a whole cracker aisle (my pre op weakness) and on sale! I almost bought a bunch of boxes to "have handy for entertaining " I resisted, but that's why I avoid those stores when I can.

Stuff yourself with dense protein before you go grocery shopping. Being really full and satisfied makes a huge difference in the choices I make.

Hi week enders. It's 38 here this morning so Lily and I have already done our 3.2 miles. It feels colder than 38 though as there's a strong wind but it's better than the 27 it was yesterday at 1. I don't really think of any new bad habits I have after surgery but my hubby says I am the queen of leftovers. I will keep food from other meals until every bite is used. I've always been a tightwad (his words) or frugal so that's nothing new just that now there are more leftovers. Post op 4 years 3.5 months and weight at 117.6 today. Here's the food B1/2 c steel cut oats with protein and peanut butter added L 31/2 oz baked Mahi Mahi 1/2 c riced cauliflower with cheese D 31/2 oz ground beef with BBQ sauce 1/2 c riced cauliflower with cheese S P3 Pak. Have a great day everyone and make some smart choices !
