Okay here are a couple days - very typical. My NUT says I can have cream of wheat or rice but that doesn't sound right, I though we were supposed to focus on protein?  I stay away from it. My doctor told me it was okay to eat peanut butter and spagettio's or other soft noodles, I was confused, I thought pasta was a no-no and again I stay away.

B-decaf w/SF creamer, Premier protein Choc shake L-1/4 c egg salad D-1/4 c refried beans w/salsa S - half of light and fit vanilla yogurt

Am I eating too many calories, dairy or carbs? I drink as much as I possibly can, but at least 64 most days, sometimes a lot more.

Some NUTs are just that Nuts, crazy, coo-coo!  You are wise to stay away from those things!  Its not that you can't ever have cream of wheat or oatmeal or crackers or noddles or rice but NOT DURING THE LOSING PHASE, I had to put that in CAPS because so many newbies just don't get it. You do.

Your menus for the few days seem great, that is pretty much exactly what I ate at 2-4 weeks post surgery.  I would keep your calories in the range of 400 - 600 max.  Try to go for the middle around 500. Protein go as high as you can for this early out, try and get 60 grams, if you can go higher go for it, but minimum of 60 grams.  Carbs, go as low as you possibly can, I know there is some but keep it between 10-20 at this early out.  You have the right mind set to stay away from the cream of wheat & rice, and for the record I can't believe your NUT told you rice and the Doctor told you spagettio's god I want to slap the stupid out of them.

Protein, protein, protein!  Lots of fluids, coffee tea, water with flavoring (Mio, Crystal light, lemon or lime) SF ice tea, SF cranberry juice, milk, protein drinks, that all counts towards your liquids.

I think by looking at your menu you are doing a great job.  Please understand how damn hard this surgery is.  All the "rules" and I fully appreciate that we on OH say one thing and most people's NUT or Centre say eat other thing, its confusing.  But just my opinion here but listen to the people who have actually HAD THE SURGERY and live this life every day, we know what we are talking about.

I struggled after I had surgery, I really was lost, I really was not sure if I was eating right, doing all the vitamins and water and food right, I was totally overwhelmed. Then I found OH and I felt like THANK GOD I have found people to guide me (the Vets) and lots of newbies like me who had questions and were lost too.

Its okay to be tired, its okay to be confused, its okay to get frustrated. Come here, ask questions, use the search function and join us on the menu thread and make some friends.

I really think you are doing great and happy to help out any time. PM me if you want!  Best of luck and yes be kind you just had major surgery, let the healing begin, mind body & soul!

Best of luck, you got this!

I was thinking the same thing of NUTs. I would love to have seen a NUT that had the surgery and knows of what she speaks a little more. I wonder if there are bariatric dr's that have had the surgery????  I had though of cutting the yogurt, beans and anything with a higher carb count. Those items were never included on any low carb diet I've done before.  I am struggling a little - trying to balance this new way of eating, drinking and vitamins isn't easy!! I need to walk more than I do and up the fluids too. Thank you for all your support, you're awesome and I really appreciate it!
