First Dinner Out!
on 12/7/16 6:06 pm
6 weeks out and ate at Chili's tonight for my first dinner out since surgery. "Margarita Chicken" minus the rice and the tortilla strips. I asked for a take out container right up front. Grilled chicken, tomato and spice on top, black beans and broccoli instead of the rice. It worked out great and I have 3 more meals coming to me in the next few days from the leftovers.
What are everyone's favorite "gastric bypass friendly" meals from chain restaurants that you can share?
Jeff
Applebee's Bourbon Street Chicken and Shrimp, minus the fried red potatoes. ( I get extra mushrooms.) I get at least two meals out of it at 3+ years out.
Ruby Tuesday's bacon avocado turkey burger without bun, and the zucchini as a side is another go-to that I can stretch into another meal.
I woke up in between a memory and a dream...
Tom Petty
Burrito bowl from Chipotle... chicken or steak (but Pouchy is not always fond of steak), sour cream, guac, veggies, beans, salsa, cheese...
Hold the rice, chips, etc.
I can make 2+ meals out of it easy.

I am not a doctor, but I play one at work.
cracker barrel and chickfila let you order the kids menu with on issues. cracker has a grilled kids fish I like with veggies. Captain d's has the same grilled fish. at chickfila i get the frilled nuggets and get the fruit cup as a side and eat that over 3-4 servings if I'm allowing myself fruit that day. If you opt out of the 'toy' you get a free ice cream which i give to my husband.
wendys i get either a plain chicken filet or a small chili- depends on my carbs that day and what im willing to switch out.
We call it "Hate Chicken" in our house. Every Sunday at some point my Guy says, "Man...let's go get some Hate Chicken!" And I respond, "Can't! It is Sunday!" And we laugh.
Also...hate makes chicken tasty. Darn them for being so delicious and so politically inexcusable.

I also have gone the burrito bowl route. I've also had chili, and beef stew (avoiding the potatoes). Otherwise, I usually stick to any kind of grilled meat with salad, dressing on the side so the salad keeps better to take home. Or my husband and I order one main to share. Lebanese food is really popular here in terms of convenience food, and that's always easy to share too.
