What's on your Menu today (Monday) RNYers?
Hi Daisy and everyone!
Hmmmm...ecstatic about the snow...we might be soul sisters in many ways but not in this way ;) Just kidding, but ugh, snow wreaks havoc when we get it here in DC. Just the threat of an inch of snow spirals this people in this city into rushing the grocery stores and driving like hell. Being from Detroit, where they have plowing two feet of snow down to a science, I think it's absurdly silly! Ha!
I had a great weekend as well. I took my boyfriend's girls downtown for walking and shopping while he stayed home with his son and played Xbox. So everyone was happy! I did some cooking as well - bbq chicken in the crockpot and spaghetti and meatballs.
Time Since Surgery: 3 years next week!
B: Leftover turkey meat sauce
L: Leftover bbq chicken, mashed potatoes
D: A new recipe of crockpot chicken nachos (peppers, onions, chicken, tomato paste, spices in the crockpot and then you shred the chicken and put it over chips and melt cheese) + guacamole
E: I will make it to the gym. I will make it to the gym. (must repeat this all day)
Have a wonderful day, everyone!
Hey all- finally getting on to post. Wonderful time being had....terrified to get on the scale Wednesday. I have been swelling in my legs, so yesterday made sure I had lots of water and lemon....I was slacking while out of my normal routine, so it is better today.
We have made a gingerbread house, built 2 snowmen yesterday. Ama and Baba from 'up North' (Wisconsin) came for the weekend too- I am officially NY Ama... there maybe a video of the 2 Amas building a snowman while being pelted with snowballs by a 3 year old, and everyone inside cheering because we were the ones out in the cold...LOL. You know how we don't see ourselves as we are? Well in this video, next to the other Grandmother who has always been thin...I saw myself thin....then I obsess over the swelling in my legs and see 'fat' ....we are strange birds...
Ordination/Consecration and Dedication of the baby all happened... tears of joy and just beautiful...
Of Course there was meet-up with Trish- Catwoman7 Friday- that was so nice. Perfect 3 hours while the grand-kiddos ate lunch and napped. So sweet of her to drive down from Madison.... Always nice to converse in person who someone who understands our brand of craziness....there may have been a shopping trip where catwoman7 made a haul of Torani Syrups...I was jealous because I can't carry those bad boys on the plane....

Morning menu aficionados. It is cold here in Portland today, with snow falling in the hills around the city. I am a flatlander, so likely no snow for me, except a little in the air.
It was a busy weekend with lots of holiday events and parties. I got almost nothing done except for a little Christmas shopping and 1 load of laundry. #slacker.
QOTD: I work for a non-profit, so there are no big company sponsored parties. My boss generally has a party at his house, but it doesn't look like he is doing that this year, which is fine with me. I always enjoy going, but my calendar is filled to the end of the year. I generally do something for my staff, but this year it probably won't be until after the new year. We always do a volunteer activity together, and this year we will spend the afternoon at the local food bank. It's always fun and helps keep the season in perspective.
Time since surgery: 2 years
B: Egg Beaters, mozzarella and bacon omelette
S: Trader Joe's Italian Chicken Sausage link
L: Chicken leg and wing

Happy Monday, all. It's cold here (41 when I left my house) and I LOVE it, even though, like Daisy, my hands will be frozen until spring. Weekend was busy with shopping and other errands. I needed some baking therapy, so my office is enjoying some home made chocolate chip cookies. I know I complained here about my heart racing every time I eat problem, so I thought I'd update you all. I saw my practice's dietitian on Friday. She believes its a form of dumping syndrome, even though my only symptom is the racing/pounding heart. We're going to try various things, many suggested by you all to see if we can isolate a cause, or determine a fix to the problem. Some of the suggestions: add some fiber to every meal since fiber slows digestion; eat significantly smaller meals more often throughout the day (like 1.5 oz of protein at a time); pick a food and have that be the only thing I consume all day (ex. chicken thighs) and see if I am symptomatic. This week is fiber week, so we'll see how it goes. I ran into my surgeon on my way out and he also believes it's a form of dumping, so we'll see . . . I asked him when he's going to fire me as a patient, since I've given him soooo many headaches in the 2 years 5 mos since my initial surgery. He just laughed.
DQOTD: My firm alternates its holiday party. Last year was a lunch at a steakhouse which was perfect for me. The firm is big on open bar, etc. So I just ordered a drink and basically walked around with it (I'm not anti-alcohol I just don't drink much since my surgery). This year is a more formal ****tail hour/dinner/dancing with spouses/significant others. I'll go and see how the night goes. The parties tend to get a bit crazy after dinner because the bar stays open all night. Since I don't drink, I'll either watch the show put on by my co-workers or make my exit as soon as I can without calling attention to myself
My plan:
B: 1 oz ham, 1 egg, 1 slice cheese 1/4 beans (my fiber)
L: 4 oz ham, 1/4 c. broccoli (my fiber)
D: NY strip steak and ???? (fiber to be determined )
S: Skinny vanilla latte (minus the fiber -- Bad Stacy), somersaults (3g of fiber . . . not great but at least its something) with sliced turkey
Totals: Cal: 850; Protein: 95g; Fat: 27g; Carbs: 51g (ugh)
Hello Everyone,
We woke up with snow as well. I love it but hate brushing it off my car at 6:30 am.
QOTD: 9 times out of 10 I can't attend it do to conflicts however, when I do go I usually make an appearance and then leave. I usually feel odd it those situations because I spend my day working with kids and I don't really see the adults very much.
B: 2 light string cheese
L: Tuna pouch w/ balsamic
D: Shrimp w/ ****tail sauce

Hi Daisy and Menu Friends!
I'm late in posting because I had my endoscopy and colonoscopy this morning. Fun, fun! But now I can finally eat something besides clear liquids again!
QOTD: I no longer work, but when I worked at the Frame shop, (which was inside a larger department store), we had Christmas parties. The best one was when they hired a hypnotist to perform and he hypnotized some of our coworkers and it was so hilarious we were literally rolling on the floor laughing our butts off!
Hillary's QOTD: I would be up for a clothing swap! I sent all my 4X / 24/26 clothes to some ladies who lost all their possessions in the Louisiana floods, but I have some 3X clothes and hopefully soon some 2X's that I can donate.
B: Nothing because of medical procedures
L: Chicken & rice soup
D: Lettuce, spinach, 2 h.b. eggs, bacon, cheese, low cal dressing
S: Light n Fit Greek yogurt
S: Roast beef rolled w/ cream cheese
Exercise: Walking the dogs around the subdivision
Have a FANTASTIC day everyone!

I like parties. Christmas time can be harder than regular parties. Some there can be so many food pushers. I just tell people I don't eat something rather than I can't I learned that here.
Depending on where the party is I usually plan on my eating. Christmas Eve there is a huge party with my husband's friends house. That one can be tricky to get through it is carb hell. I get through it and have fun. I will eat one of his sister chocolate chip cookies. They are the best.
Our company Christmas party I plan. This year it is going to be a lunchtime one. We can just order from the menu.
QOTD: I work for a non profit agency and we do have a Christmas get together where everyone makes a dish. We all get along great and have a blast hanging out with each other!

D: 2 oz chicken with sautéed onions, mushrooms and peppers. 1/4 cup steamed spinach
