What's on your Sunday menu, RNYers?

Good morning! Can I just spend a moment bragging on Grim? He was such a superstar yesterday. He did so much prep work and painting that he worked from 8 in the morning until God-only-knows-how-late (I passed out at 10pm and he was still going), with only one lunch break. His work is impeccable. The rooms are beautiful. I forgot to take pics though, and I'm not going to wake him to do it, so you'll just have to picture it... Lovely. One more room to go today, then a bunch of little details like new switch plates, blinds, curtain rods... Next weekend we finish the kitchen floor and install the new stove, then...done!? I hope so.
ll QOTD: Were you a picky eater as a kid? I really wasn't too bad. My mom's rule was that I had to try at least one bite of everything but that was it. It probably developed my palate because aside from peas, I can't think of much that I really hated. I have one friend who swears that her kid is so picky that she only eats three things. So she is using the cookbook that "sneaks" veggies into food (like hiding zucchini into brownies). Personally, I think that's a pretty crappy idea. I hope that kid doesn't grow up to assume that all nutrients are completely unnecessary because she was able to subsist on chicken nuggets and brownies for her childhood. But I'm not a parent so, I'll leave my judgy thoughts here.
I'm still unclear on my menu but here's what I had yesterday:
Protein coffee and a protein bar
Almonds and a cheese stick
Roast Beef sammie
1/4 of a chicken quesadilla
Havd a great day, everyone!

Morning JB!! So glad you've got Grim-- I'm sure you'll get top dollar for the rental after he finishes with the repairs.
Qotd: nope, wasn't picky as a kid. My sister (the skinny one) was and I truly didn't understand her lol. Like you I didn't like peas-- but they rarely served those. I ate anything they put in front of me- and being of west Indian decent, some foods were very unusual for a kid to be willing to eat (i.e.- goat). I have a super picky son and its horrible to live with. I don't try and hide nutrients in other things cause he'd literally sniff them out. I think his issues are sensory based; tastes, smell and texture. Since he's 12 he basically prepares his own meal now since I refuse to cook separately for him. If you don't give in hell eat is nonsense. My son has bordered on passing out from hunger rather than eat something he's not comfortable with. I'll offer both my kids ventured into trying more food thanks to hot lunch at school. I'll admit it hurt my feelings some they were willing to try that 1/2 cooked crap more readily than what I make.
Im awake and getting ready to go run- the warm bed is making it hard to get moving! Gonna go to Wegmans today and spend some Kohl's cash.

I hear what you mean about your kids eating things at school they wouldn't eat at home. I have two cousins who have lived with my husband I over the years for post secondary school. They each moved in when they were 16-17. Their mom was disheartened when she realized they ate things here they never would at home. It's definitely not a reflection of your cooking skills. I chalk it up to social pressure. Sometimes peer pressure or wanting to fit in is a good thing hahaha.
sensory issues are another ball game though. And definitely more challenging.

JB - lucky that you have Grim. My DH has always left the painting to me (and wallpapering 20 years ago). Now I hire someone (too little time and too many shoulder issues). In Florida, there is a small amount of wallpaper to be removed - I'll probably hire someone for that too (always used to do that myself too).
QOTD: I don't remember being a picky eater but I know I always liked junk food (hence the need for WLS at age 60). I loved Big Macs when McDonalds first opened in our town. I remember consuming large quantities of toaster pastries (yuck now - I eventually upgraded my tastes for treats to things like Cinnabons).
B: eggbeaters, cottage cheese, roasted red peppers/chilies (usual)
L: tuna fish, dill pickles, cottage cheese (usual)
S: string cheese, maybe protein bar
D: probably turkey chili unless I get motivated and make crab cakes (light recipe that I make in bulk, then freeze the individual cakes)

In JB'a hallway, someone removed wallpaper, and painted over the paste without cleaning it off. I want to find them and kill them.

I've ended up just skim coating walls rather than try to fix someone else's screwed up mess.

I have one wall like that in my bedroom...like 5 layers of wallpaper, and no matter what I did couldn't get it off.... Primed and painted over it...lasted well for years but now is starting to show lines from the wallpaper... really need to redo it again....ugh....

I have always loved to paint and paper, my husband is like Grim and is a professional compared to me, but we work well together, he does all the cutting in and I do the rolling. It works out pretty well.
I wasn't a picky eater 3 things I hate now are liver, asparagus, and egg plant. Other than that I will eat most anything

Morning!
yesterday's festivities were a hit, fun to hang out with family. After posting here, I'll be up and at me to get today's tree trimming party sorted! And tonight...Zzzz
qotd: nope. No one would have described me as a picky eater. I'm definitely more so post op! I try not to be too annoying in restaurants by looking menus up online before hand. Usually it's easy to pick something protein forward, but I'm still getting used to having to ask the servers a bunch of questions.
Menu:
B:protein shake
L/D I'm putting together a chili bar for the party, so prob just that.
have a great Sunday everyone!
