I am very happy that you are one of the few people on this board whose metabolism appears to have survived obesity-related changes and can sustain a higher carb level.  You are lucky :)

But having said that, this is the not the experience of many successful vets on this board.  So if lower carbs are working for the OP, and since the experts recommend it, I strongly encourage her to stick to her guns until she reaches goal and works out how higher carbs will (or will not) fit into her new lifestyle.

My NUT told me the same thing, to go to 120 grams, and I did raise mine more as I increased my workouts and durations, but now only 60 to 70 grams of carbs a day.

I did stall because I was eating such a low deficit, and once I went up to 60 from 30 or less carbs, and total cals from 1000 to 1400, my weight started to go down again.

Everyone is different, and we need to learn and adjust as we lose and progress.

That was just a coincidence. Weight loss is not a straight line, and if you kept your carbs low, you still would have lost.

I've seen crazy things like people who were is a stall, ate Three Musketeers bars, and started losing. They were utterly convinced candy bars were magic diet food. If they were, I never would have needed surgery.

Really. DONT INCREASE YOUR CARBS.

I am at goal. I have gained up to 147 (i.e. 5 lbs) by keeping my portions the SAME but eating carbs. Carbs turn to sugar, sugar causes insulin spikes which lead to hunger and fat STORAGE.

You want to burn fat not STORE IT.

Dont eat carbs. TRUST ME.

To lose the weight (i.e. to get back to 142), i had to eat low carb/NO carb for 3 weeks. Yes THREE WEEKS.

So..if you want to stop your weight loss and gain weight, eat carbs.

Hey surgery buddy!  I had my 3-month checkup Tuesday.  Same thing, except my dietician is more accepting of my choice to limit carbs.  She says that 130 grams per day is normal, and she thinks my low energy is due to not enough carbs.  But she understands my fear of going back to eating bread, rice, potatoes, grains, etc.  Her suggestion is to add every now and then and always make it something healthy like a few raspberries, strawberries, or maybe 1/2 cup of oatmeal.  I have not done that yet.

I try to stay under 50 grams per day, sometimes can get down to the 20's, but sometimes (Thanksgiving) I get up to 70 or 80.  After listening to vets here I really try not to get that high.  My weight loss has been steady at about 2 pounds per week, which my surgeon's office thinks is a bit slow but I do not have a huge amount to lose.  I am at 11.4% total body weight lost.  And I am happy with that -

I think you have to weigh the issue for yourself.  The veterans here have been in the battle.  Dieticians have not.  Mine actually said yesterday that she wished she could have gone through WLS so she could understand what it is like - I was telling her about the absolute fear of failing again.  They can only guess at this.

Good to hear from you!

Some people can tolerate more carbs or the occasional carb, but the key here is....you are doing well so keep doing what you are doing. Will there be an occasional higher carb day along the way? Yes- of course...but stay the course....

I consider when I eat something and I lose weight that I shouldn't have eaten. I think it is like going through a speed trap and not getting a ticket.

I would do what the others have said. My plan was a joke. It had grilled cheese on it. Had toast also. So glad I came here. Make the most of the losing faze it does get harder as we go on. Learning as we go good eating habits does make it easier in the long run.

Thank goodness for the vets.

I'll add my voice to all the others, don't add carbs. I'm 99.9% certain that the reason I didn't lose last week was because Thanksgiving tempted me into more carbs than I normally eat. Even though I didn't eat a lot, I had bites of mashed potatoes and dressing. Now that I'm keeping to under 50g of carbs a day, I'm losing again. I just smiled and nodded when my surgeon said I needed to eat more grains to keep from getting constipated (my Benefiber works just fine, thank you). My PCP, who has other WLS patients, is fine with my low carbs as long as I'm doing OK energy-wise. In his words, "humans don't need a lot of carbs, and that's where many get in trouble".
