My One Week Update - seems like the popular thing to do today
HW 386 (at least this year, definitely not my lifetime high)
SW 309.8 (Nov 21/16)
My surgery was uneventful and I was back home on Wednesday up 8 pounds. Overall I would say things are going well, nothing out of the ordinary, I'm still dealing with some pain although it's not unmanageable (without medication) and constipation which is how my body likes to react to liquid diets. I did have a bad reaction to the Premier Protein RTD on Thursday which made for a rough couple hours but I got through it and I've been sucessful with a few different types of shakes so I'm meeting my protein and water requirements. My weight this morning was 308.9 so I'm basically right back to my surgery weight but I'm ok with that.... for now. My BF's parents delivered an early Christmas present yesterday, a Fit*****arge 2, which was very genereous of them and I can already see what a postive impact it will have going forward.
At my one week follow up appointment today I was asked if I was participating in any Facebook support groups and my response was "No I don't use Facebook and I've read that they don't provide good information so I have no intention of starting.". The response I received was surprising to say the least. She went on to say that she was glad to hear I wasn't because there is a lot of bad information on there like people telling you not to eat crackers and people saying to avoid carbs..."if it's in your book you can eat it". At which point she flipped the book open to show me the things "that seem to be up for debate but really shouldn't be". For example; she suggested I start eating oatmeal to help with constipation (and then pointed to it in the book), and said I can start eating crackers next week when I start the soft food stage (again a reference to the book which lists saltines and melba toast as acceptable choices during the soft food stage - logic be damned!!). I have raised both of these questions in previous appointments with the NUT but continued to get the same "if it's in the book it's ok" line. Now I think the NUT and the nurse are both very nice people who have been very encouraging but if we went to the park and I put both of them on one side of the teeter-toter I could keep them both up there for another couple months.
With that said, since I started reading these forums a few months ago I have appreciated you all so much but so very much more over the past week. I don't post often yet but I read everyday and thank all of you who continue to share your wisdom and experience. It simply cannot be overstated what a valuable resource you all are.

I had a few meetings with my nutritionist like yours. I don't argue. I just smile and say okay. The vets on this board know what they are doing. Mine suggested cream of wheat.
i had my surgery last Tuesday, so we are about the same time out. The miralax has helped with my constipation. I have s capful in my hot mint tea in the morning.
Im glad you are feeling better. My stomach is still tender and bloated. I see my surgeon on Wednesday. I'm hoping she will say that I can have a bath. I would really like a nice soak with Epsom salts.
I was not allowed in baths, the pool or hot tub until my incisions were completely healed... a month or more for me!

Congrats on your surgery as well. I have been enjoying mint tea and I also found a herbal laxative tea in a pretty lavender package called Smooth Move. As soon as I read the name I was sold and it seems to be helping.
When I was leaving the hospital I asked if I could shower when I got home and was told yes to showers but no to baths or any submersion for at least 6 weeks.
I love the teeter-totter line. I'm going to steal that one.

Sounds like you're coming along well! Congratulations on the great almost-in-laws! If their child is as nice as they are, keep that one around for a while!
I just had to see my NUT pre surgery, there are no requirements to see her post-surgery (although she is there for those that want to see her, for $$). I'm so happy with the things I've learned here, that I see no need to pay good $ to go see her again.

He's much more oblivious than thoughtful but he tries on occasion.
I definitely would not be paying to see her post op but I will be scheduled to meet with her at the same time as my other follow ups with the dr and nurse so I'm not making a special trip either. Our meetings are basically her reading from "the book" or off of the computer screen. It's not so much a conversation as a little mini lecture and most questions lead her to look up the answer.
