Well thanks for all the support this week and it was mentioned NOT to drink while eating. I had my surgery over 10 years ago and have forgotten that it made such a difference. I was eating everything and full meals. Today I tried NO liquid with my food and I was so full and uncomfortable that the last thing I wanted to do was overeat. I cannot believe the difference it made. I couldn't even finish a third of what I had prepared. This is such a great tip.....first day in a year that I haven't been hungry.

When I went back on track to lose my regain - it helped me to put notes like that in one place - easy for me to access. So when after 2-4 weeks I was tired of dieting or just had a bad day - I could pull it out and read..

Some of the notes were about why do I need to lose weight some - tips on how to do it...

I.e.

  • I like to fit comfortably in size 8 pants,
  • I like yoga and it is easier to do it when I am smaller
  • I like my heels and my feet hurt less when I am ligher

Or

  • When I feel hungry but it is not Time to eat - drink warm tea or water
  • Don't drink while eating
  • Chew slowly
  • Make sure I have good snacks with me at all Time, so when stuck in traffic or somewhere I can have "my food" and not "junk food"

The carry snacks with me is a very important point to me - I take at least 2 if not more - servings of snack with me anywhere I go, and have more in a car.  Example - we went to a wedding...we were at the reception  at 3, they were serving alcohol and candies...food was served at 5...I did not want to drink or eat chocolate - so I had my snack (i was hungry) .. I ate served dinner at 5... But then we were there till 9 pm. After dinner - they had cake and cookies...and booze.. If I did not have enough snacks with me ( in my purse and in a car )- we could not stay and have a great time.

I keep things like a serving of nuts or low sugar jerky or other "portable " food in my purse and in the car.  Very useful... That way I am never "forced " to eat off plan...

I bake my own "cookies" - and dry some of then to turn them into "biscotti" type dry portable snacks.. (i don't use sugar or flour- but use coconut or almonds and stevia for baking)

Planing ahead - what if - is important..

I'd love to see your "cookies" recipe!  The one thing I really miss is some kind of baked good occasionally.

I don't follow a recipe ...I just toss things together until it "looks right". Make cookies...

A simple base : 1 cup almond butter. 1/2 cup shredded coconut, 3 eggs, 1tsp backing powder.

All room temprature. Blend on high.. Let sit. Add stevia to taste, pinch of salt..

Check eggface blog or againstallgrain.com site.

I mix extra nuts in my batter, or add extra stuff to make it more dense recipe. Bake at 350 for 15- 20min.

Sometime I add protein powder to make more protein "cookies"...or pumpkin to make thanksgiving treats..

I make flat cokies or muffins or "cake"..

Some people add flax meal..

I also notice the longer I wait to eat after I drink, the less I can eat. If I am having a regular pouch day, I drink right up until I eat. If I am feeling famished and feel like I can eat everything, I stop drinking 30-60 minutes before I eat.
