Post surgery questions

i think I have thrush. Is there something I can do at home for this my surgeon is an hour away and I really don't want to expose myself to germs at the doctors office.

Also i have a lot of pain in the back of my throat where the sinuses and throat meet. When I try to bring up phlegm the cavity from sinus to throat hurts a lot and twice a big mucas like plug came out.

Is this normal ? Surgery was Monday

Hi Amanda, sorry your not feeling well it sounds like your just coming down with something.  your throat would be sore from the tube it it during surgery but if stuff is coming up I'm not sure what that is from.  I would call the surgeons office they should have a answering service.  they might be able to have someone call you back and advise you or call In a prescription for the thrush anyway.  sorry

Hi I had thrush 3 days post op also yeast in skin folds. Dr called in scrip for Nystatin mouth swish and powder for the folds. I did a search on this site and it seems that thrush happens more than you'd think post op. I brushed my tongue with toothpaste to try for a better taste. Once I used the swish, my mouth felt better in about 2 days.

Make sure you keep sipping, the moisture will help your mouth and throat more comfortable.

My surgery was monday too. I coughed up something horrible in hospital and was able to show the nurse. Funny you say mucus plug cauae thats exactly how i described it. Nurse said it's normal and its a good thing i coughed it up.
