What are you Thankful for?
As we in the USA head into our Thanksgiving celebrations we often focus on food, family, and shopping. I want to just take a moment to express my gratitude for all that RNY has brought into my life. I invite you all to post things you are grateful for!
RNY Things I am Grateful For
Lower blood pressure
Healthy resting heart rate
Increased energy
My feet and legs don't ache all the time
Energy to go, go, go
Feeling healthy in general
Less money wasted on excess food/junk foods
Tasting food (salad with no dressing is actually super yummy...who knew?)
Learning what 'hungry' vs 'feeling empty emotionally and calling it hungry' means
Sense of achievement after a life of failure at losing weight
Fitting into places and seats without worry that I will break a chair or get stuck
Longer life expectancy
Growing sense of self confidence (work in progress)
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
~Elizabeth

Knowing the real me. Under all the obsession and worry and self hate! KNOWING and there by LOVING myself!

A middle aged over the hump and over what "I'm suppose to do" woman, with the wild spirit and a nasty case of depression and anxiety!

While I'm still adding (almost daily) to the list, here's a start!
While I had no serious comorbidities, I was close on many accounts... I'm thankful for another chance to keep all those nasty ailments away!
Not snoring so loud that I chase my hubby into another room!
Having the chance to clear out 2.5 closets of clothes that are now too big on me (and the opportunity to fill them back up when I reach goal!)
Having the support of friends to cheer me on and support me!
Have to agree on 'tasting' what food really tastes like! All that extra chewing really gives the taste buds a nice treat!
Seeing my profile in a mirror/window as I walk by and not believing it's me! (This happened pre-surgery too, but the opinion of how I looked was vastly different! LOL)
Sliding into any booth now and fitting (even if I stand there as I'm about to sit and get stressed thinking I won't fit easily!)
There are SO MANY more options, fashion wise, price wise, etc when you are a smaller size... that alone saves so much$$$
And I'm SO THANKFUL to have OH here! I've learned a TON from everyone, have THE BEST support group around, and really hope that one day I get to meet so many of you!

So many things do come to mind but a few are:
My amazing husband, my beautiful house (its small but its mine), my new car & my job & and my awesome boss
My dogs, their daily unconditional love never ceases to amaze me
Living in Canada
Having RNY surgery
Gone is extreme high blood pressure and the possibility of having a stroke & borderline diabetes and the constant pain in my back, knees and ankles
Not being ashamed to leave the house now and travel & socialize
Being able to have the energy and stamina to walk all day long and take stairs, hike my dogs when I get home, go to the gym and run 5km and then go back home make dinner, clean and take my dogs back out. All of that in one day was a mere pipe dream pre surgery!
Clothes shopping!!! Although my mind has not caught up with the sizes I actually wear, its wonderful to go into any store and know for a fact I can fit into any of the clothes there
High heels baby & crossing my legs!
Letting go of the anger & depression I had when I was MO, I feel like I am living my life now, I am so very happy & carefree
Thankful for the OH site, the Vets on OH and all the fabulous people I have met online here and in real life
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours Elizabeth
