Two Year Surgiversary - and a NSV
Good afternoon everyone. I just realized that my two year surgiversary was on 11/21. I can't believe it has been two years since my life changed in ways I could not have imagined. I now have the freedom and confidence to do what I want, when I want. I have always been "me" MO or not, and tried not to let my weight keep me from doing what I wanted. But let's be honest here. Being MO limits your choices in ways that I didn't understand until I no longer had those limitations. Today I am so grateful for the gift of health I've been given. The gift of stamina. The gift of freedom from medication. The gift of walking through life and not leaving a large wake. The gift of comfortable airline seats (seriously, the best one). It has made my life richer in so many ways.
Now for the NSV. I went to the DMV today to renew my driver's license. When the guy that worked there looked at my old license, he said "Whoa, great job! We never get people here that have to lower their weight when they renew." Then, he couldn't finish the renewal on his own because the computer would not believe it was me. He had to call over a Supervisor to override the system. Ha! First time I have ever been entertained at the DMV.
For those of you that have been on this journey for a long time, and still take the time to post, I thank you so very much. You change lives every day with your support, wisdom and occasional kick in the ass. For those of you that are just beginning your journey, the best advice I can give you is relax, follow your surgeon's plan and enjoy the ride. This is a magical time, and you should treasure it. Oh, and listen to the people on this site have have been here and done that. They have your best interests at heart, even when they are telling you something you don't want to hear.

Congratulations! You've worked really, really hard, and deserve the better life you've earned.
I disagree that you no longer "leave a large wake." You've left one here, in a very good way. You deserve a huge pat on the back for sticking around and helping others. It wouldn't be the same without you.

Congratulations! I just read your post and felt like I had to respond with tons of encouragement and love. I just had My gastric bypass on the 18th of October and am just starting my journey. 5 weeks in and I am noticing so many great changes--not to mention a few things that I am still coming to grips with. Hearing your story really makes me hopeful that with time, I will settle into this new lifestyle and be thrilled with the new me. To date, I have lost 23 lbs. and honestly do feel better. My weight seems to have slowed the past two weeks and I'm not sure why. Did those slow downs ever get you down? I am also realizing what my new pouch will and won't tolerate and its been a real education.
I just wanted to reach out and say: way to go! I sure hope to be where you are at in two years. You are an inspiration.
Regards,
Mandy from Houston
