Good FROZEN morning from Toronto! Wow it's windy, cold and snowing here!  My hands are so cold they physically hurt, that's the one thing I hate about this time of year, the bitter windy cold days, my hand suffer so bad this time of year, it's - 4C (25F) and with the windchill feels like -12C (11F)!!!  Did you all have a good weekend?  Mine was quiet but productive, we went out for an amazing steak dinner Saturday night, and at this restaurant hubby and I always get this one specific dessert to share, it's to die for BUT its official I am really really lactose intolerant now!  This dessert is an ice cream cake and I had about four forkfuls and the pain in my tummy was horrible, I pushed the plate away and said to hubby it's all yours.  I don't even think taking a bottle of Lactaid pills would have helped.

And need my prayers please friends, got some bad news last week on my Fathers health. I won't bother you all with the details but he has just been diagnosed with a very serious heart condition. My parents told me last Wednesday night and I got my Dad into see one of the best Heart Surgeons at my work on Friday morning so I am a bit comforted knowing he is being looked after by one of the best but so begins a long haul of tests, monitoring and dealing with my parents stress & anxiety of this diagnosis, it's not fun.

QOTD: Do you have any artwork in your home?  Do you have any original pieces or are you more of a canvas print and family photos kind of person?  We have a ton of family photos, and I change them often and a few canvas prints. No originals but we have some very good friends who have a ton of original art work and I admire the pieces every time we go to their house.

I love winter and snow what I hate now post surgery is WINDCHILLS!  It can be sunny and snowing and be cold but throw a windchill on top of that and I am dying!

Sorry to hear about your dad. Knowing he's in the best hands, I'm sure is comforting, but the stress and fear will be there anyway. As they say, make sure to take care of yourself, so you are able to take care of those around you.

Its a snow day here in Ottawa. Time to test out my new winter coat. The dog is curled up in front of the fireplace. He's in for a rude awakening hahaha

im meeting with the dietitian this afternoon. I'm not super optimistic. I'm assuming it will start with her telling me how great I am doing, then tell me to increase my carbs...

qotd: a mix of everything really. A painting by my husbands grandfather, prints I picked up at craft shows, photos and some framed memorabilia. It sounds like a lot, but to be honest, most of my walks are currently bare, and I have a closet full of empty frames haha.

Menu

B: skyr yogurt and bran buds

L and D tbd I haven't planned anything yet. The dog's not the only one curled up by the fire...

have a great day everyone!

Hey yall- Can I just say I'm SOOO excited for this week! Tons of people at work are already off and I have a great feeling m-wed will fly by! Support group tonight for me so that will be exciting i suppose. I 'graduated' into the advanced class but didn't realize there was one or that I qualified for it so I'm going tonight. Hopefully it will be a smaller group and better. I MAY do some shopping beforehand.

went to the grocery to get the turkey last night- our new kroger opened and let me say- it was a madhouse and it is HUGE!! there is a clothing section (WHAT)? and huge pharmacy and everything else, insane! So I got almost everything needed except the fresh stuff like veggies. We have 3 people coming for the day and spending 2 nights with us afterward so it will be fun. They have never spent overnight with us and they have a 1 year old and we have 4 small pups so this migth be a bit of a learning curve for us :)

QOTD: DH and I are eclectic art collectors. We like buying very unique one of a kind art. Most of the items are numbered artwork where they only made like 200 or something like that, or originals from artists. We thrift and find many of these there that are signed and numbered. One of my favorite is this Egyptian looking one with golds and greens. We got it for $3 in alabama on a hunt.

We have been redoing our house slowly from 'rustic' to mid century modern also so that has been fun but not for the wallet and I'm self confessed cheap. We did get these 1960's bathroom lights coming from ebay and DH will install them. DH has expensive taste so i have to reign him in. We also are instlaling carpet in the guest bedroom as the old carpet was 11 years old and icky. So that will get done this week before company comes. The cooking events will start tonight with cornbread for the dressing and maybe the pies after I get home.

the scale has been happy with me and upping my protein really helped drop a few more pounds quick so will continue to follow this plan. Adding to coffee (powder) really helps also.

calories yesterday 679, prot 102, carb 41

S: not sure

L: leftover swai from dinner/veggie

mid-century modern is my current favorite!  Our house was built in 1953, and we've tried to fill it with mid-century furnishings.  Also, we've done a lot of remodeling over the years, and we always try to keep it in the spirit of mid-century design (even though I don't necessarily go for total retro - but it has to "fit" within that style.  I don't want some jarringly modern bathroom or kitchen that just sticks out like a sore thumb!)

sounds like you have a very full week Hillary!  Very cool that you have such and eclectic art collection, I love the idea of your Egyptian one with the Gods, sounds beautiful!  We need new carpet too, I keep putting it off because we have dogs... and you have four so I know you know what I mean!

Yay on you and the scale getting along, that is perfect! There really is something to this "protein forward" thing right LOL Keep up the great work!
