Today's Nutritionist appt
I've been seeing a nutritionist outside of my surgeons office as part of wellness requirements for my job. Overall I've not felt like she's been a wealth of information. First she suggested increasing my calories to 1200 (I aim for 1000). I quickly dismissed that-- as it is I've been running higher than I'm comfortable with calorie wise-- if I "allowed" 1200-- I'd be at 1700 in no time. Then she suggested juicing/smoothies to get in more veggies. I bought a nutribullet and used it once. I'll try it again- but honestly I'd rather just eat veggies-- I don't need to be so creative as to find me as to drink them. But the experimenting is fun.
So today was my 3rd visit- my weight has been withing 1 pound at every visit. So I'm maintaining-- though not intentionally. I asked her about my goal (arbitrary 175) and also said that I've met my other goal (size) and feel wonderful-- love my fitness routine etc. So why keep chasing an arbitrary #?? I don't want to lose site of the good of right now for an arbitrary#. I know me and I'd lose site of what's important. She agrees- and is more focused on my habits than the number on the scale
I'm not changing what I'm doing-- I still would like to loose at minimum 10# more. And if I stick with what I'm doing- no reason why I won't. I feel relieved- like some loud voice yelling "get it off now/fast" has quieted a bit.

The weight loss after the first year or so definitely changes... doesn't mean you won't lose more... but for me it was like 2-3 lbs a month for months and then bam- lost 10lbs in 6 weeks or something....just get s weirder... I think.
Keep plugging along- this ain't no diet, we changed our anatomy, no looking back. I never thought I'd get to where I am... and I am not even talking about when I was 200lbs heavier... I am talking 40-50lbs ago.... the 'home stretch' can seem like the longest stretch of all....

Yup it's definitely weirder now and I've realized, I just don't like weird :-) I've been able to see a pattern up until this point and that's like impossible now.
Amen and hallelujah about the home stretch. I'm gonna enjoy my slow glide into home-- feel the dirt, hear the crowds cheer-- without the confounding worry of if the 3rd baseman of is hot on my heels.

I agree with you - if you still want to lose , 1000 cal is a better target than 1200. When I told my nuit that I read that people lose on 800-1000 and maintain on 1200. She said "If that" - meaning that many people will gain on 1200 a day.
Juicing makes no sense to me after 1 year and before a year you need protein more than veggies.
Totally agree - Stay focued on your habits - that is what you can control. Are you using MF Pal so someting like that??

I'm glad you are feeling better about everything. I do think eventually you may want to put a number down in your head for a goal weight or at least a goal range. Weighing ourselves regularly keeps us in check. I think we definitely need a number, and we get to decide what that number is. Those who do not, pretend to be "shocked" when their regain gets out of control.

I weigh daily still and that won't change. For where my weight averages currently 194 is my comfort point. Method to my madness now is; if I see 3 consecutive days of gains of .5 or more than I need to reevaluate. (Consecutive gains like that are *not normal for me. Up/down is) I want to lose the 10 more so I have a comfort range, where as currently it static #. I'm not ignoring the #'s-- that's too risky.

Good. I have seen too many people here just be loosy-goosy with their weight and more often than not, it catches up catching up to them. The size goal is too dangerous to me, too. I bet I can gain 30 pounds and still find something with a label saying it is the size I wear now. People can play mind games with themselves.

I always had mini-goals... and at this point I'd say make the mini-goals 5lbs at a time, and then see how you feel there...then set the next one. I am a firm believer as well, that goals are important. When I set them in the beginning they were just fantasy numbers...hahaha...but you know what? My fantasy became reality and then some....
