Trouble with water ~ Body just doesn't like it?

For the past few months I've been having trouble getting my required amount of water in.. I try, and I try and my body is seeming to rejec****er... It's literally the hardest thing to keep down, I just hate every second of drinking it. So I've been going days, and days without drinking anything anymore. I'm really not sure why its so hard for me to keep water down, when I used to drink water like it was no one's business.

Has anyone else had this issue? Should I just force myself to drink it? It's literally so difficult, and I know it sounds crazy lol! I can't use any of those flavored water packs, because some of them just doesn't agree with my tummy at all.

Hi!  I don't know if it's the liquid or cold or flavor or what that might be bothering your body.  I had a lot of trouble drinking water after my surgery, too.  I used to love how the water in my little town tasted, but after  surgery it did not taste good anymore.

Also, the cold water just aggravated my pouch.  Even now, at almost two years past surgery, I have a hard time with plain water, especially cold or cool water.  And especially in the morning.

i drink lots and lots of herb tea.  The warmth agrees with my pouch.  The flavor agrees with me too.  Every morning, I brew about 5 cups all one flavor, and drink it throughout the day.  (I drink another thing, too, called Crio Bru, which is basically ground, roasted cocoa beans that you brew like coffee.

i really love several flavors through Teavana.

I'm having trouble with it as well. I've always been a big water drinker but now that I can't gulp it down, it's much more difficult. Even with tiny sips, I seem to have more reflux problems with water than anything else. I also find tea and warm liquids easier and more soothing ... mint tea is especially comforting. I do ok as long as I make sure to carry my water with me everywhere. If I don't have it constantly by my side, I can go hours and not think about it until I get hungry and thirsty at the same time and then I have to decide if I will eat or drink first.

I used to love ice water and then right after surgery could not tolerate it.  I started adding just an ounce or two of diet cranberry drink (there are many flavors) and that helped tremendously.  I also drink mint tea.  It is very important to get enough liquid in, keep trying!

IT may not be the WATER, but the air if you are gulping...drinking fast?.. slow it down! frequent sips, and limit air intake, the straws can help or hurt with limiting or increasing air intake- depends on the indvidual...

I was a chronic air swallower, and it gave me big time trouble immediately post op.!

When you must make a decision which to do first =is time for a soupy type meal..a high protein drink,. a stew, or high water content veggies.. summer squash are esp high water content and i love them baked.

Are you having the reflux addressed? Having reflux with water is not normal.

I don't love the taste of it but that doesn't matter. It's a trade I made for this surgery and it's worth it! But if it's a physical problem your surgeon needs to address that.

I have always been a big water drinker but after surgery water had to have a ton of ice in it. I get about 120 ounces a day in but it's mostly decaf coffee and decaf green tea, hot.

I had to play with this a lot. My ideal way is almost room temp in a sports type water bottle. Which I despised pre op! I get a min of 2.5 litres and usually 3.5 per day this way.

I also have a decaf coffee or herbal tea a day.

I have grown to like certain flavours of mio or Chrystal lite. Also things i despised pre op. But I put way less than the instructions. Just enough to taste a little bit .

I don't know if you are eating mostly protein at this point, but every thing I've seen says how important hydration is for the sake of your kidneys etc.

hope you get some ideas to keep trying!

take care
