Happy Remembrance Day & Happy Veterans Day!

Good morning Friday Menu Friends!! It's the weekend!  Hope everyone has awesome plans for the weekend!  So full disclosure for you all, last night hubby brought home some homemade pizza & cookies that one of the Jurors made (an older Italian Nona he says who brings homemade food for them all the time and he says it's all amazing!) so it looked and smelled so good I had a slice and well it was AMAZING!  And then the cookies this Nona made I had to try some and they were AMAZING!  And the not so amazing part... my weight is at 131.2 today!! I almost fainted!  I like my weight at 125-128 and I am comfortable with that but 131.2 is a no go!  I am totally going CAMAW (cuz I want milk in my coffee & babybel) starting tonight! So I am sure you all wondered if I ever "cheat" or "eat off plan" and yes I do and I pay for it. Not only is my weight up I have a killer headache from all the carbs, so in my opinion it was not worth it!

QOTD: In lieu of a question please post your Remembrance Day/Veterans Day photo and tell us about it. Or maybe you have a family member who is currently serving, please tell us about them. My photo is of my Maternal Grandfather's grave in the Canadian War Memorial Cemetery in Groesbeek, The Netherlands. My Cousin was there about 10 years ago and took this picture. My Grandfather served in the Canadian Military and died in WWII. His name was Fred James Mitchell, died March 8, 1945 at age 29. So remember last week I posted a picture of my amazing Grandmother, this is her husband. My Gran used to talk to me for hours & hours about Grandpa Fred. She was so in love with him. And everyone to this day (my Mom's older cousins & Aunts & Uncles) still say what an amazing man he was, funny, smart, giving, loving.  I have a pic of him in his military uniform, if I can find it later will add it in. My Grandfather never met his kids (my Mom & Aunt), both leaves from the army he got Gran pregnant and was back fighting when they were born. My Mom was born in January 1944 and he was supposed to come home but got delayed and was then killed the next year before he made it home, so sad right! My Gran saved all his love letters he wrote home and medals and my Mom has all that now, the letters are incredible so full of love. RIP Grandpa Fred. Thank you to all who have served and who continue to serve!

QOTD:?

Here is my step-son Matt, presently overseas. He has had 2 tours in Afghanistan. Fingers crossed he will be promoted to Army Major and be home for Christmas. He and I have had a strained relationship, but things are slowly changing. Love 'em like he's my own!!!

This is my Great Uncle Teddy. The family's 1st college graduate, shot down over the Pacific during WW2. Sadly, his body and those of his crew mates were never recovered. He was part of the Army Air Force, before the Air Force became it's own branch of the military.

So proud of all that serve in the military, past and present!!

It can be a tough life for them and their families, but it's a necessary job for all of our safety and liberty!

Good morning. Im writing this very guilty post from the car somewhere in New Jersey. We left the house at 2:30am and I've already made a TON of terrible choices this morning. Yay me. So far, I've had: coffee with real sugar, a Cinnabon and cheezits for breakfast. WTF, JB? Get it together! At least I started this trip off at the low end of my comfort range, so hopefully I won't let it climb up too high.

I'm excited that we'll be in DC in about 2 hours though. It should be a nice mini-vaca. Do you think I can convince Obama to adopt me while I'm here?

No idea what's on the menu for the rest of the day/long weekend. Speaking of which--does anyone want to take over the weekend post? Not sure if I'll have time.

QOTD: no pics to post, but I'm proud to brag on my wonderful cousins who have served in the military. They've showed so much strength and courage. And of course we are on our way to visit Grims brother who is in a high ranking military position and works in the Pentagon. Amazing guy. This is him:

Hope you all have a great long weekend :)
